Post by jdm921 »

Long story short I ordered merchandise on march 25th. Eta was April 2. Waited a week and a half to message for info. When I got info it was " ill check with post office etc." Basically filed a claim with ebay past the 30 money back and just got more po bs. Now I'm out $30 and he won't message back. Any help would be appreciated.

Did ebay get back to you on the claim? What's the status of that? When did you file it?

I'm having a hard time understanding everything with the lack of detail of the situation. However, from what it seems, eBay closed your claim? If so, your out of luck, there is nothing you can do from that point on.

Except possibly a credit card chargeback. CC companies don't love them--but sometimes it's your only option.
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

Yeah, with Paypal window out and eBay claim closed, you're pretty boned. The only hope is the one S listed above, which is if you used your Credit Card to fill your paypal you can do a chargeback. That might lose you access to your Paypal though.

Was it an eBay 'store' or just some guy on eBay? Might be able to track him down outside of eBay and apply pressure.

Like I said previously, without knowing the exact details it is hard for us to help. However, if eBay closed your claim, it is for a reason. What was the reason for the closure? They notify you with the details of the closing of your claim.

I don't know what you mean here. They couldn't refund you how/why? Why did they alert the seller?

Also, due to eBay's user terms, when they close a claim you're pretty much out of luck. They own Paypal now too so don't expect much help through there. If you paid through a Credit Card via paypal and try the Credit Chargeback say goodbye to your Paypal.

This is a good reason why the excuse "Paypal/eBay (since they are owned by the same company) will protect you" is rubbish.

I highly doubt you will be able to get anything back.

@Pretre - Contacting members outside of eBay goes against their terms. If the OP did this, say goodbye to their eBay account which means even if they did sign up again they couldn't use the Paypal account - Hence, they are boned even harder.

Don't have the word for word but when I opened a claim it stated that they couldn't refund the money because the 30 day period from buy to claim passed, but they would let the seller know a claim was open against him. Then it closed I believe 30 days from the time I opened simply because the claim expired.

Yeah the only thing, if you really want that 30, is the Credit Chargeback (if you used an attached Credit Card) or through your bank (similar thing but even more of a hassle).

The "joys" of being protected!
