A quick question for all

Post by traderchick »

When I first joined this site I had an individual agree to a trade, exchanged address for each, and just the time of day stopped me from sending payment until the individual stopped the deal saying he didn't feel comfortable(with me sending payment first, I failed to see that logic). Now i have the same situation again, but this time I agreed to a trade,a different individual agreed to send first because of feedback, i pulled the stuff off of my list, and still no contact. I've sent 2 other pms asking what was going on and I've seen him online on the site, and since no one else has had any trouble getting my pms, I'm just guessing he decided to back out,but didn't have the guts to pm a chick back and say so. Honestly I'd like to get the trade done, but is there any recourse such as leaving bad feedback, or just metioning the name so that further traders won't cost themselves trades by taking stuff off their list?Just a question. THanks all

No insult intended...
Your post kind of rambles.
I THINK I got your point, but I'm not totally sure.

Let me know if I'm off base.

First, you give us background about someone "dropping" a trade in the past, then state that it seems to have happened again.
Then, you asked for advice about leaving feedback?

Unfortunately, there is currently no repurcussion for this.
A Neg Ref cannot be left for a dropped trade. It is not a trade until goods have exchanged hands.
The best you can do is keep a list of people who you won't deal with in the future, and put that person on it.

Personally, I feel tht there should be some sort of backlash for bad trade PRACTICES. At this point, however, the ITL is strictly for trades, specifically.

Yes the first story is background. The second one details a negotiation, an agreement, exchange of information,my taking part of my list down thus causing a possible other trade not to get done, 2 pms asking for details of shipping and getting no reply when you know the person has been online. Like I said was just a question, I'm sure plenty of others have had the same thing happen, and I was just wondering about some kind of recourse that didn't get into flaming or other unwanted avenues.

Hey
You can leave negative feedback for a dropped trade, see link
viewtopic.php?t=36447&start=0
But its easier to just forget about it,and go on to the next trade

Cheers
Peace

Honestly I don't want to leave neg feedback since he's a new user, but if it hadn't cost me a potential trade I might not be that upset about it. I appreciate the link to the thread. The mods can lock this if they wish. It answers my question as far as options Thanks Susanne

There is currently no rule against changing one's mind.

While it can be considered rude, there is also no rule dictating that the other trader must be informed of said change in mind.
mon·ey: noun; a good that acts as a medium of exchange in transactions.
Money is a good like everything else; if your rating is lower, you ship first whether money is involved or not.

I don't think that there is a considered about it, it is rude. No question, or at least where I was raised at we learned manners.

I agree that it sucks, traderchick, but and it may be rude but there's no rule against it.

Sorry, just add those traders to your DNT list for future reference...
Trading Guidelines:
1. Lower rating ships first - even if I am purchasing.
2. If you agree to buy something, you have 72hrs. in which to pay. If payment is not received in 72hrs., I will automatically post a Non-Payment/Backout thread.
3. Refs are left upon positive receipt of goods, NEVER beforehand!
4. I accept Paypal & USPS money orders and charge for shipping AT COST. I make no profit from it.
5. I trade NIB/new models at retail.

Thanks for posting that.
It's almost embarassing that I forgot, considering that Iw as the first one to thank him after he announced it.

Traderchick, you just said something that scared me...
Did you say he was a new user?
Did he have 0 or very little (1 or 2) ref's?

See, that's the kind of things a fraudster will do. He'll enter into negotiations in hopes that he can get you to ship first. If he can't, he'll suddenly change his mind or drop communications entirely.

Not saying this guy definitely IS scamming, but it could be.
I'd probably leave a neutral with SPECIFICS as to why I did.

Normally, cancelling a trade isn't something that most people leave Feedback for, even though the rules permit it.

To me, the problem is that you hit for the full -10, when here, you might only want to hit for -1 or -2 due to the inconvenience of pulling the item / losing the opportunity to trade it for some number of weeks. If I could hit a dealbreaker for a -1 or -2, then that would be ideal for this kind of thing.

In your case, the best thing is to give notice that you're assuming he cancels the deal if he doesn't provide DC# within 24 or 48 hours.

This is why I do not pull items off of my trade list until I have delivery confirmation numbers in my possession.

Lower rating, you ship first. I always leave feedback, appreciate the same in return.

Better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

Traderchick: I guess if you're really annoyed and the person really strung you along, you can leave neutral feedback. Personally, I would just move on and not deal with that person again. But the choice is yours.

Sorry that 2 bad deals have occured so early on in your trading. But it happens to us all at some point and the best thing is to not get discouraged by it. Good luck!

BTW, your avatar rocks!

I wouldn't leave a neutral. That still "ups" his rating by a point (unless that has been switched, too, and I've forgotten).

He definitely doesn't deserve that.
