Reasonable time frame to ship something

I just wanted to open up a poll to see what other users think is a reasonable time frame for someone to post an item you have paid for to you. This is after all the money has gone through and cleared.

I'd say within 48 hours of clearing.

i always try to ship same day or next day at the latest. if it went down on saturday, it has to wait til monday but i will make it first priority to get items out ASAP. i expect the same from sellers. i get irritated when i send payment, then get an email 3 days later saying my item will be out the next day.

As long a clear communication is being maintained, I think that the "time" is of less importance. For me, as long as I know what the situation is, I can usually work something out.

for a trade i would suggest 24-48 hours

if your buying from astore and they have to order it of course different time lime

24 hours is a little unrealistic due to RL situations, but 3 days accounts for weekends, mishaps, etc... I see we have a growing majority in the vote...

with the ability to purchase postage online, 24 hours.
all you have to do is go to the usps website, set up a FREE account. enter the weight. pay for the postage and print the label.

usps flat rate boxes are $8.10 to anywhere in the US. if you are going to be selling more than up to a dozen sets of minis, buy a scale. at one point USPS gave out free plastic levers that worked as scales that measured from 1-6 pounds.
then all you have to do is drive by a PO and drop it in the box.

you should already know the weight from having the minis prepared for shipping. just seal the box and go.

It's posted in my ads that I try to ship within 2-3 days. However, I did vote here for 7 days because sometimes s*** happens and this is about enough time for anyone to ship, even with RL situations (barring of course serious emergencies and giant acts of god).

As a rule of thumb, I like the '3 days' answer. Accounts for weekends, and leaves a little 'wiggle time' to schedule a trip to the post office. Of course, this might not work for everyone. 7 days would be alright too.

remember, when you buy postage online, you can schedule a pick up or.. just hand it to you regular mailman. you mailman even comes to your work, so, just hand it to him there. once postage is on it, especially when it's printed from a computer, it doesn't need to go to a po unless it's leaving the US.

I'd say, barring serious real life or prior agreements, 7 days as a maximum. Plenty of time to pack and post without being excessive. Of course, the quicker the better.

kturock - probably wrong on this but don't packages over a certain weight (fairly low IIRC) have to go through a post office? I seem to remember this coming off of the Unibomber incidents a fair number of years back.

packages over 12 ounces WITH STAMPS as postage MUST be brought upto the counter. the post office call this 'target mail'.

if you buy postage online, at an automated postal center, or use a postage meter, you don't have to bring it up to the window. thios is only for mail from the US to the US. why/ because there is a way to trace where it was shipped from. everyone meter has a zip code and serial number, that it puts on the postage. the APC's take your picture, like and ATM. and well you know how much info you leave when you use a computer.

if it's leaving the US, ALL MAIL MUST GO TO THE WINDOW, unless it's a letter. everything that needs a customs form, must go to the window service. even and APO/FPO.

that's not because of the unibomber, who btw used fedex and ups, but because of 9-11, and airplane/airport security.
