Customs gift check box (I have no idea what this is)
After an exhausting wait the package i sent to a trader on Bartertown finally arrived. He said that he had to $30 for it because i didnt check the "Customs gift box" on the postage. I have mailed to Canada before and have never encountered this and the Postman said nothing when i took it in to be shipped. Is this a new thing they are doing for postage to canada? Thanks for your time!

canada is notorious for this. if the item is not a gift, you are violating FEDERAL LAW. it's the same as lieing on your income taxe. customs fees are just another form of tax. and there's no way around them.
canada sometimes charges more than the items worth. back in 1999, when i 1st started here at b-town, i traded some old judge dredd minis for some IG. i listed the minis as worth the price or the IG, since they were NIB.
the trader had to pay as much in customs as he paid to ship me the IG. i had to pay $0 in customs fees.
in the same time period i sent about $130 worth of O&G to another trader, in the same part of canada. he paid $0 fees. it seems the day of the week, or customs agent that gets the item decides how much, if any, to charge. i always declare what the items are worth, because i always insure them. that and because i work for usps, i'd lose my job for falsifying documentation. no trade is worth that, to me.
if you want to take the risk, be warnwed. if you get caught, not only do you have to pay the fee, but also a fine, which is usually more than the fee.
just like taxes.

i just had a book and some minis come from canada. the trader sent it 'expeditatred parcel post'. i also had a package sent from UK. it came in less time than the 1 from canada. it was shipped 'small packet/package'.
i have a cat who gets meds from canada, she has asthma, it came faster than the book and minis. and the trader paid more for postage than either of the other 2. go figure.
