Bolt Action and historical battles/campaigns?

Post by connivingsumo »

I've been reading around the internet and have the impression that Bolt Action isn't really the best game for historical battles. Don't get me wrong, I'm no historian - by any stretch - but I do miss the Squad Leader (Avalon Hill CoI, CoD, etc.) scenarios as - in the early 80's - my teen brain understood those to be (loosely) based on actual battles and were sometimes unfair... as battles often are.

I ask because getting my teenage boy (15) to do anything that isn't TikTok, YouTube, or a video game is quite a challenge; however, he did agree to play Age of Sigmar: Spearhead with me and actually expressed interest in the WWII game he saw sitting on my shelf. I thought it might be a cool idea if we could play an actual historical campaign while having fun.

Open to any suggestions, resources, etc. Thank you in advance.
