Advice on a trade.

Post by jdelrio22 »

I am about to finish a trade and this is the first time I have received a package where I question the state of the marines. I guess I am just particularly bothered with how some pieces were assembled. I guess I am just seeking advice about how to deal with it, this is the first time the person is trading and though so far it seems like I have received everything I am particularly displeased with the marine assembly (Arms flailing not really assembled correctly). Perhaps I am just making too much of a big deal out of it. I think one mistake I made was in not asking for the condition of the marines that were assembled as in how well were they assembled. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well did you pay/trade for the paint job? Or were you trading fair value for x number of marines? Was there a packing issue? Some things arms ect fall off during the schuffling of the shipment. Is it easy for you to reglue them? Are you happy with the value of the trade regardless of minor repairs needed? did you e-mail him about it? Ask what type of glue he used

basically a few (one or three) fall off during shipping so no big deal
if you have to go back and reglue an entire army troublesome

next time ask for a picture but unless the guy intentionally misled you he should get the credit he deserves

Dennis

ps you might want to send an advice e-mail to him about packing and stuff for his future trades

True the one thing that is kind of hurting me quite a bit is this. In part of the trade he had stated "2 predators midway in building with all xtra bitz " when I did receive the predators however I found in the packaging that there aren't enough tracks to finish one of the predators, I found that some bitz like the lights and the ports that are on the top are also missing leaving just openings there. I can understand the Rhinos which were supposed to be battle damaged but I can't understand the missing sprues and pieces to finish the tanks.

Has the seller / other trader responded when you asked him about the missing bitz (or her, as the case may be)? If you havnt asked yet, I would go ahead and do so. Never hurts to ask.

If you get something and it was not properly described in his emails/PM's, you have EVERY RIGHT to return it.

I cannot tell you how many times I've encountered this here. Not in a long time, mind you... but anyone who has traded with me in my last 30 or 40 trades can tell you JUST how *edit* I am about spelling out each & every particular of the trade... Especially with traders I'm not familiar with, personally.
It's because of people who've done stuff like that to me.

Don't listen to ANYONE who says you should have asked about the condition of the models. That's Bull.

Sure... "Buyer beware." Fine. I get it. I see the point.
How about truth in advertisement?
A lie of omission is still a LIE.

I'm not saying the guy lied on purpose... but he wasn't forthcoming about his models.

If you think you can salvage them without too much trouble, you have 2 options.
1)Send your stuff & a neutral reference
2) Email him & see if he wants to renegotiate or just have you send his stuff back (I am not overly fond of this option, but it IS an option)

If you don't think they're worth salvaging, then you have 2 options (each with 3 sub options)
1) return them on your own dime and
a) agree to leave no ref's
b) agree toleave neutral ref's
c) agree to leave neg ref's

2) return them on HIS dime and
a) agree to leave no ref's
b) agree toleave neutral ref's
c) agree to leave neg ref's

Don't just roll over & accept them because someone says it's your fault for not asking... that is NOT the case.
