MEDEVL wrote:So is stuff only trash until it's picked up?? Could you take coupons or Fritos out of a garbage truck or dumpsite without getting in trouble?? Just curious because that trash thing makes NO sense to me. If it's thrown away at that point it's just discarded junk and I don't see how you still claim any rights to it.
because the 'trash', the pens, water bottles, flashlights, umbrellas, shirts, hats and the like, still belong to the mailer. he has chosen to have it desposed of by the post office.

if i take a ceramic coffee cup, that was sent out as a free gift, as an advertisement, for say a animal shelter; out of the dumpster behing the post office; wheather i open the box it's in or not, i can get arrested, fired, and proscuted.

now, once it hits a garbage truck or dump, then it's trash. and that's why i said make sure you shred you ads and such with your personal info. there are people who live by going thru your trash. some are paid by the dump, to remove trash from recycles and to remove hazardous and dangerous materials. and some do it to sell it. i had a licence plate stolen from the trash. it 'appeared' on a van that was 300 miles away, that was left at a smash and grab crime scene. the police wanted to talk to the owner of the plate, my dad. minor problem, my dad was dead for almost a year at that time.

like i said about the radio promo. there were thousands of them thrown away. the company dropped off millions of them. some had bad addresses, or were otherwise undeliverable or unforardable. they employees went thrru the dumpsters, while on break, and took the pages. they heard the number and made the call. they were fired for theft of mail. even if the piece says,
john smith
123 any street
any town, any state,

it's still mail.

it's still a personalised document. and that's what the inspectors look at. it belongs to the SENDER until the addressee gets it. then it's his to do as he pleases.

remember, the inspectors are the equal of the FBI, and any OTHER FEDERAL MARSHAL.

Wanted to let everyone know how this turned out......................

"Why are you pushing this so hard. It's just some toys", That was the comment that made me realize that he just didn't get it at all and that he probably never would(as I already explained the dollar amounts involved and my anger about the lack of respect he generally shows me), so I filed a police report, showed the police the video and filed a report with the USPS.

Turns out, everyone in the household has at least one warrant out for their arrest. Offenses include theft by check, passing bad checks, DUI, child support violations, prostitution and a handful of other things.

They were promptly arrested. I think the wife was able to post bond, but the owner of the home has since evicted them.

While I ultimately know that this was all their fault, I still feel a bit bad that it was my complaint that directly resulted in the arrest.

I am glad to have these people out of my life.
If I owe you a reference, please let me know. I accidentally deleted my PMs.

I wouldn't. Now, part of this is because we all know I'm a heartless b@stard who bans people at the drop of a hat...

Seriously. These people had obviously hurt a lot of others. You absolutely did the right thing in making sure they all got put away. They decided to do what they did, knowing there might be consequences. From a certain point of view, you're simply acting as a Karmic catalyst for all the people who got screwed by your former neighbors.

Hopefully your example will inspire others to do the right thing and stand up against @$$hats like them.

I seem to recall that it is against the rules to use cuss words and disguise them by using alternate keys...

Sop, stop being a hypocritic f*cking rule breaker, @$$wipe!

LOL

Seriously, though...

My respect for you has gone up a few notches, Jag. I'm, both, proud of you for sticking to your guns & doing your civic duty, and impressed that you are human enough to have a twinge of guilt about it (especially without regretting it).

I'm with Lin. I wouldn't feel guilty about it at all... I guess you're a tad better than us.

Jag, I'm glad you had the janglies to go to the cops with the evidence. Since page one I was thinking "Send that little [insert banned word here] away ASAP" and everything else.

Since when is it vigilantism to report a crime to the police? I thought vigilantism was going over there with a bat and busting heads. I guess Batman doesn't know what vigilantism is either.

Stupid Batman.

The concerns of how the kid will feel and all that other crap is just that, CRAP. The family deserves every bit of crap they get. I was laughing so damn hard when you told us that the entire family got arrested and lost their house.

And Lin thinks he is a bastard. There is a reason they won't let me ban people myself.

Sometimes I'm surprised that you even have POSTING PRIVILEGES!

Yes well, I'm only scary for people breaking the rules.

Or at least the ones doing it all the time, and acting like Jaga's neighbors (hah! ex-neighbors!) about it.
