Cheap Cultists/Mutants Ideas?

Post by MagickalMemories »

I thought it might be cool to pick up some cultists. I have some that I built with the "Mutants" kit that GW put out during the Eye of Terror campaign and I have a lot of GW bits I could use to build more (and I will), but I was thinking that it might be cool to pick up some metal, plastic or resin models that were different.
Anything mutant or cultist could potentially work. It doesn't have to be a GW model... since I'm looking for something rather cheap, it's probably best if it ISN'T GW. LOL
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Oh, and the less assembly needed the better!

Thanks.

I melded WFB Marauders with chaos bits for my cultists.

Zombie cultists or straight up cultists? Mantic's hard plastic plague zombies for Deadzone are cheap and very cool. They're KS only right now, but you just need to find a backer for that.

Alternatively, Wargames Factory minis make a variety of dudes that can make cultists or guard.

If you want super cheap, Warzone plastics are about as good as that gets and can be used to convert cultists as well.

Preferably, mutated humans or cultish humans. Not looking to do zombies.

Thanks for the ideas!

I would say you could probably use cheap cadians/catachans/necromunda plastics and convert them up. Just look for people trying to ditch their horribly painted guard armies. :)

I've done that and then mixed them liberally with marauder, flagellant and other bits to make pretty decent kitbashes for a couple armies.

Right now, I use Ork/orc, Zombie and IG with some old Chaos mutations mixed in. If I stick with GW, I'll probably stick with those, mostly.
Definitely don't want to bother with stripping or disassembling other people's mistakes, though. LOL

The Mid Evil board game has 100+ minis if I'm not mistaken.
The bases are just a bit [1mm] smaller than 40k round bases.
You can paint them, by spraying them with a very good primer.

Hmm. I can't seem to find any biard games with that name or anything similar that use minis.
Any chance you know where to find it?

Thanks.

Troll Forged makes mutants, though they are a little irradiated looking.

You might also try Fantization for bit--though they are actually by MaxMini.
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

If they are similar to the zombies figures from their Zombies!! game they will be really really tiny next to GW figures.

A local guy here was trying to use the zombies for his CSM army, and they didn't really go over well.

Sedition Wars' basic revenants are zombie-ish but certainly mutated too. I haven't looked recently, but there were a lot on ebay for cheap some time back. I think they'd be pretty good filler.

for once my google fu is better than Eric's.
I just Googled "Mid Evil board game" and got a SLEW of board games in Medieval settings. LOL Switching to "Images" was no help. LOL
I'll have to check that out later. The site is work-blocked.
Thanks!

Thanks, SC. I'll check them out.

They're on bases almost the size of GW's. Like 1-2mm smaller.
Yes the actual model is the same size as the Zombies from the Zombies... game. They're both made by the same company, but the zombies are on off-round bases.

If you want to proxy, then these will work. If you want to use true GW, 28mm models, then they won't.
GW uses 28mm, whereas most everyone else uses, or at least used to use, 25mm.
