It's been my policy not to leave references until both parties have said they are happy with the deal. The way i see it, the deal is not actually over until they tell me everything arrived ok and there are no problems. Until they've told me that, i consider it still a deal in progress.

But once i know they got everything on their end, i don't care who leaves a reference first. If i'm planning to leave a positive reference and i expect them to do the same, why would i care who posts their's first?
I follow the generally accepted practice that the person with the lower rating ships first.

Sure there is. With eBay messaging, it's easy to confirm identity by referencing the Btown trade in question.
Even if there was, the situation is too dissimilar.
When people buy/sell on BT, the situation is identical.
On Bartertown you're generally trading.

Not always. I've sold a bunch recently, so my eBay refs are applicable.

And as a well-arbitrated, low-fraud commercial rating system, eBay Feedback is pretty solid confirmation of general business ethics.

Not usable here in my book

Absolutely not usable here as far as I am concerned. I would not trade with anyone based on eBay rating. Sorry, when I first got here, I didn't get to send last/second with my zero rating and I didn't complain or bitch, just quietly went about my business of trading/selling/buying to raise my rating. Just because I had/have 100+ perfect record on eBay meant nothing to those here before me and I won't bend for those after me.

Good luck with that here!!

I'm OK with your opinion, not with your attitude...

If you don't want to trade with someone who has a good eBay rating, that's up to you. But I'd be a lot happier trading with someone with +100 eBay than someone without any references. At least they have *some* Feedback, that I can verify. An eBay rating is a LOT better than nothing.

I don't see BT Feedback rating as an objective in and of itself. It's a tool, nothing more. And if someone can point to a long, documented history of reputable dealing, that actually means something to me.

As for sending first, I don't care much one way or another, as long as the rating is good. If I had serious reservations, I probably wouldn't even do the deal in the first place. Tho a 50-100-50 trade isn't a bad compromise.

So if you're inflexible, maybe we just don't deal. That's OK, too. There's no point in forcing a bad deal just to do a deal.
