My favourite would be the Grey Knights, not because they are "OMGZ OP!!!" but because of their fluff. I love fluffiness when I start armies or build lists, Grey Knights do it well for me. Same with Tyranids, but that's bias because I grew up on the Alien movies and absolutely fell in love with Tyranids.

He put the Raptors iconography on his tanks (it was not available for troops at that time) and used Winged Ravenwing fronts on all of his bikes.
Then, he named them what he thought was a cool name.
Thus, the Iron Griffons were born!

1st and greatest chapter...Dark Angels. Lion is the ONLY person to EVER beat Russ in a fight (even if it was a sucker punch).
Honorable mention to Scythes of the Emperor (In the early 90s fluff, Hive Fleet Kraken was only beat at the sacrifice of them and craftworld Iyanden.). Now they are reborn to full strength (current codex).

I love my Space Wolves! Great fluff imo, and I will be allying them with DA (sucker punch!). Its blasphemy but beards plasma and robes can't be wrong!

There was an addendum in White Dwarf magazine that had special rules for Scythes terminator squads in Epic. I have always liked the fluff - Sanguinius making the ultimate sacrifice. Also like them because of the Flaw. Something deeply nobel about them. And red is the color of war!
