It's starting to tick me off

Post by RB »

-------that the last THREE PURCHASES I have made I have not received any feedback from the seller to my references. The next person who fails to do so will start getting red flagged by me. I have been on this site for 6-7 years and this is starting to get old.

I've noticed this on Ebay lately too. It seems everyone wants to post feedback second. What happens when two people want to send feedback second? You can imagine.

I often like to leave second when I ship models sold on Ebay. Sometimes models break in shipping, and some people don't realize that even with good packing and FRAGILE all over the package, the postal service can still damage things sometimes, and they take it out on me. Still, the most I wait is a week, and usually, as soon as I decide not to wait any longer, and post some good feedback, BAM, not more than two hours later I've got feedback from them.

People think they are clever, but if you did nothing but pay for something, why would the other person give you a red flag? It boggles my mind.

When I buy on eBay, I don't leave feedback unless the seller leaves it first. I held my part of the agreement and feedback should be left as soon as my payment is recieved. There isn't no if's, and's or but's about it. It's rude for a seller to wait for a buyer to leave feedback first. If there is an issue when the package when it arrives the fact that a buyer send his money warrants positve feedback.

Sellers should be leaving feedback first on Bartertown as well. Trades are a different matter but if someone is to send first that person should get his feedback first. Any issues can be resolved but plenty of issues could be prevented with secure packing. Two sheets of newspaper or a few paper towel squares isn't secure.

I have had seven trades where I didn't receive positive feedback despite prompt shipment and excellent packing. The other traders have all been users with higher rating and sent out mini's in piss poor packing. I didn't leave feedback for the last four of those trades.

It should go without saying that feedback should be left when a trade or sale is completed successfully. If a person has to ask for feedback even after submitting some of their own for the other party, then there is a problem. In these situations, I think with admins should delete a feedback entry up the request of the submitter. Of course proper proof that there was a successful trade and an unanswered request for feedback should be presented.

But why does it matter if you held to your agreement. If you've done nothing wrong why wait until the other person has left feedback.

Also notice I said I wait a week, or until the buyer leaves feedback. If the buyer doesn't leave any when the week is up, I go ahead and leave it. This is to cover anything that happens in the post offices hands, that the buyer may decide to blame on me.

I think it's rude for either party to wait for feedback, but it's something I do to cover myself from the irrational few on ebay.

when I trade with someone I gnerally post a reference first. But when you pay it should be stated up front that you did.
As a matter of fact the last trade I bought from seller and posted a good ref and he has yet to post mine. This is after being reminded.

I disagree with this, because until i hear that the other person got their stuff and is happy with everything, i consider the deal to still be in progress. And I don't like to leave feedback until the deal is actually completed. This would usually mean that the person who got their stuff last is the first one to leave feedback. However, once i hear they got their stuff and everything's ok, i'll post feedback whether they have or not. I don't think that's unreasonable.

This has happened to me several times. I have either had a purchace or a good trade with another user. Left them good feeback and had no problems and have recived nothing in return. I can understand not leaving feedback if you were unhappy for some reason. But when one person gives a good ref for you I belive that you should get one in return. And I always leave feedback. Although lately I have been waiting and not leaving it right away.
Please use ILT manners, if I give you a good trade please return one if you are happy, it just manners boys and girls.

I pursue bad and tardy traders. If I can ship on time so can you.

Maybe the admins can change the way the ITL works so that references don't go live unless there is a pair of them(one from each user).

Wow, nice thought nightshade_eyes (ponders, ponders some more).

I'd say yes if it is a good reference, bad references go immediately (with big flashing lights).

First... I am VERY MUCH in agreement with n_e's proposal with TMA's addition.

That being said... I have a bad short term memory. Typically, I leave a reference as soon as I remember to. LOL
Sometimes I have to be reminded.
I admit it.
Often, I'm in a hurry and trying to catch up online and, by the time I have time, I can't recall who it was with.
I HAVE left ref's in many instances & received nothin in return. Often, as stated, with established traders.
I don't remember WHO my first trade was, but I rmember MY side of it and that I didn't get any ref's.
Thinking back now, it's probably a good thing, as I was a newbie and didn't think the LOAD of MK minis were so fragile to worry about & they were PACKED in the box around smaller boxes (and boxes and boxes and...) of Pokemon cards.
that being said... if someone owes me a reference, I have NO problem with gently reminding them... and I have no problem if *I* am gently reminded... in fact, I recommend and WELCOME it!

yes that is a great idea for the refs to not go through till the recieving persons emails match, but what if someone gets alot of trades going at once? is it possible for the programming to differentiate this reasonably?

I'd imagine it would be a matching pair, same set of sending and reciving usernames on each end. True Adam? Anyway, I'd like this, I'm kinda curious why I haven't gotten feedback on a trade, either way. Where there any rollback issues or other stuff from the recent server switchover?

How about +2 if you get a good reference, +3-4 if you get a good ref and you give them a reference back?

TMA,
Thanks for always thinking of us.
I don't like the idea, though.

I think it's just more than is necessary.

I like the idea of your ref not showing up until the other person's ref does, if that is feasible.
