Hello all,
I am thinking about converting some of my Imperial Guard Cadian troopers to veteran/stormtrooper squads. The obvious thing that comes to mind is doing headswaps with something unique...for example WW2 british homeguard heads with the steel helmets, brits in pith helmets, heads with berets, wargames factory heads (soft caps or Soviet WW2), skeleton heads, Vikings, etc. Many options to choose from GW and other sources. Any advice or experience with these?
Regards,
Dale

Other than to go ahead and do it? I like the Pig Iron heads, myself.
What feel do you want for your Stormtroopers/Vets?
War-weary vets? Spit-shined spec ops?

I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

I like a historical feel to the unit...war hammer pistoliers, empire men at arms ( round hats), halberdiers, Spanish cavalry with the Cromwell helmets. Might do 1 unit with historical and one more spacey like the forge world space marine legion breaches heads. What other conversion should I look at? Weapons? Any equipment or uniform changes?

In my view, backpacks and non-standard gear identify vets.
But total uniformity might too. You might look at the plastics or metal accessories by Warlord Games.

Re: Creating 40K Imperial Guard vets/ stormtroopers
If you can get your hands on a bunch of the "tailgunner" bodies from the valkries, you could make a nice set of stormtroopers or vets. GW models where the parts would fit and look nice. I think I have a bunch of them unused here somewhere when I was considering using them for that purpose before just buying the greatcoat wearing stormtrooper models from a different company for most and the catachan models for my unit I call "harkers mob". Harkers mob behind a wall having a 2+ cover save, a commissar lord attached to man the big gun works very well.
Treat other members with the same dignity, respect and honesty you would like to be treated with.
