Can I post information about a great buy I would like to pass on to members that I have found at my local hobby shop?

If your local hobby shop is an advertiser, then sure. Otherwise, no. You're not allowed to advertise for non-Bartertown Advertisers here. After all, they're the ones who pay the bills that keep this site free for YOU.
If you want to say, "I got ABC for $XYZ at my FLGS!" That's fine. It's not until you start throwing around shop names that it becomes problematic.
