MtG Market?

Post by bwbrs »

Hey guys, wasn't sure where to put this thread. Anyway, I played Magic for a few years, from editions spanning from Urza's saga to Onslaught. Is there any market for these previous editions? I remember hearing that cards becoming illegal to use in tournaments after a certain amount of time. Anyway, thanks for any feedback.

Yes, there is still a market. You cannot use them in standard system, but there are other types that you can use older cards. Not to mention just playing with friends.

Always think about the lands first they hold value pretty well most of the time. Also Legacy is more popular now than it ever has been. Shoot me a list if you have one I may want some cards from you.

Thanks, I will have to dig everything up and list everything. I know I have tons of lands (who doesn't), but I know I kept a binder of rare cards somewhere. I will get back to you ASAP!

Also, would ebay be a good place to sell them? Or are there forums like this that focus on buying and selling MtG?

There are a ton of places to sell them. As a long time member of Bartertown, I'd say put them up here first, but that's your call. Just remember, ebay charges you fees for the listing, the selling, and the payment. You might do better selling some here, either in lots or individually.

I think he means Rare Non-Basic Lands that do nifty things.. as opposed to basic lands, which around here are a penny each..

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

MtG still has a very very strong market, even in smaller towns. Older sets tend to drop in price overall say a few Rares here and there. Since several formats exist that use older (and in rare cases, all) cards, you might see a slight influx in price on a random older card. I've been playing MtG on and off since more or less day one and have been surprised to see the market stay as strong as it has.

Older sets are still of value to casual players as well. I know I love older cards for garage magic.
