Re: A Letter to GW
i don't think it's pointless to write to any company, just don't expect to actually see the results. I don't remember the specifics, but some years ago, amnesty international ran a campaign sending rice bags to idk which government agency. The campaign ran and that was that. Years later, some politician is doing a Q and A with the public and talks about that campaign. Turns out anytime he had to argue, he just asked "please remind me how many rice bags we got?" It happens all the time. The weight of numbers will give more clout to whoever is on your side inside the GW machine . They just never will tell you so to your face.
Re: A Letter to GW
Now this is all scuttlebutt however due to the rumours on Warseer, it seems like Matt Ward was SUPPOSED to write the book. They had posted a bunch of "leaked" info/rumours and such like they always do (Free marketing why not) that never made it into the book. However if you compare the mistakes in the book you can see that one person DID start writing the book and it seems that it went to someone else. If that was the case, then if Matt Ward started and was pulled off for something else and it went to someone else then it would explain the mistakes in the codex (case being the Nephilim Jetfighter Missile Lock mistake). HOWEVER, that said, they still should have paid someone to proofread the darn thing before putting it into production.

might be worth it just to get a judge to put "dbags" on paper....Gaijin18 wrote:I wonder if we as gamers could do a class action cease and desist letter to GW to stop being dbags
Heres were the letter stands. I mailed it some time ago. I mailed some parts to Europe after the letter. The person got the parts. I am yet to hear about the letter. So:
A) its going from office to office till it lands on the right desk
B) round filed
C) put in the squat closet
D) responce is on the way to me
I wish to say its D but I have a feeling A-C is the right answer.

If, by saying "A-C is the right answer," you meant that the option BETWEEN A & C was the right answer, then I wholly agree.

Re: A Letter to GW
So what do I have to add to this topic now??? New information. I dug around the GW site and I found the investor relation link. Its there at the bottom of the page. Go look. Click that link and you get a busniess page. Blah blah blah like about dividends, holdings, voting and the like. There is another contact GW link. Click that. There right before us is this line
GW's Response:
In a few weeks, a new codex hits the shelfs. I don't play this army. If you do and GW drops the ball on it (in terms of errors, don't complain over war gear), I encourage you to do what I did and write a letter.

Yea I removed it. Do some work yourselves. I emailed the address in hopes of getting this DA codex issue explained. My first letter was attached to the email. My email said this:•If you have any specific questions about our business that you would like us to answer, please email us at SOMEEMAILADDRESS@SOMECOMPUTERADDRESS
The 2nd concern was with the bits.Team,
Please see the attachments. I am yet to hear a response in regaurds to the first letter. The second letter is of a new concern and I would really appreciate a response concerning the matter.
Thanks,
Jason
GW's Response:
Hi Jason,
First of all I apologise if you have found the quality of our books wanting. It is our ambition to create world class publications that surprise and delight our customers. Sometimes, however, we do get it wrong.
Whilst no excuse, there was a printing error with the Dark Angels codex which meant that the number of errors in it was unacceptably high. This only came to our attention after the book was in market so, despite the egg on our face, we thought it better to print the corrections as digital updates to allow people to get on with enjoying their miniatures as soon as possible.
We have been getting steadily better at printing fewer and fewer FAQs and Errata in our Codexes and Army Books and this book will be an exception.
Once again, I apologise to you for the errors that are present in the book and I hope that you will continue to enjoy collecting Citadel Miniatures despite this.
Thanks

I thank you for the response. Some members to gaming websites said I would not get a response and that I was wasting my time. Your response proves them wrong. Thank you again.
Can you tell me how long it takes from the Design Team/Codex writer from finishing the book to get the book printed in the number of copies needed to supply the initial release is? Again, my issue isn't with the FAQ. Not every game condition can be worked at testing. Nor is my issue with Amendments within the book as new rule books can skew old codices. My issue is with the Errata as those are mistakes in the books themselves.
Can you also address my second letter in regards to bits or is that going to another GW office for a possible response?
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
The bits issue will be dealt with by a separate part of the business, I unfortunately don't know the answer.
It takes several (6) months between the writer completing the project and the book being sold. Most of which is spent with the books on the water from China to the our various warehouses around the world. I hope this answers your question. I agree with you that Errata need to be removed and we are doing everything in our power to produce perfect books. The Dark Angels issue was a one off and we have safeguarded against a repeat of the same issue.
Thanks,
I did get a response on the bits issue. Thank you for passing it to the correct team. I can understand the 6 month lead time from printer to store. I work retail myself and I have informed many of guests that it takes x weeks for something to come in once ordered.
As I said in my letter, I only play a few armies in 40k. I can only hope that whatever glitch caused the Dark Angels book to have the errors it did is fixed for the next army that I do play.
Would there be any problem if I posted these emails on the gaming club sites that I belong to? Allowing others to see the reason behind the errors may cool some feelings in the clubs.
Thanks,
Jason
Now while I don't know if this person has anything to really do with the Codex itself, their job title would sound like the correct department. Yea I know it could still be someone from the menial staff who washes Matt Ward's beemer 3 times a week.Hey Jason,
No problem, please take my email address off it though please.
Thanks,

Re: A Letter to GW
I have to say that I was interested in this thread until I got to the part where you removed the GW contact email from your Investor Relation quote and then sort of berated us readers about it. I would think if your goal is to get answers to various questions that we gamers have about GW products and practices it would be in your best interest to make it as easy as possible for all of us to contact GW, thus I really don't see the point of editing out the relevant information.

When I read it, I thought he was just being a smart *ss, but gave him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't trying to be a NEGATIVE one.MEDEVL wrote:I have to say that I was interested in this thread until I got to the part where you removed the GW contact email from your Investor Relation quote and then sort of berated us readers about it. Then, I read this:
He's just being honorable and following the man's request...Hey Jason,

That said, I DID do the homework myself and, as I made no such promises:

Re: A Letter to GW
Interesting information under the "Bribery Policy" link
Anyone who has been following the "GW vs Chapterhouse" thread on Dakka knows how utterly ridiculous the "Honesty" part of this statement is.
Eric
Oh, how I LOLed.Bribery policy statement
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Honesty, Courage and Humility.
For this reason it is hard to imagine that any employee of Games Workshop would ever become involved in any act that could be described or seen as bribery. However, the law requires that Games Workshop has an anti bribery policy and the following document explains what our policy is.
Games Workshop has an unwavering commitment against all acts of bribery and other corrupt practices. Bribery and corrupt practices are never tolerated in the pursuit of Games Workshop’s objectives. Such practices will never be used in business relationships or the actions of its employees and associated parties. This commitment comes from the Board and runs through the entire Company. Woe betide anyone who lets Games Workshop or themselves down!
