I am I̶s̶ ̶G̶W smoking crack?

Post by jrokowski »

I just went to the site to check some prices. WOW everything went up by 30-50%. That is just crazy. Who can afford this anymore?

I paid $19 bucks for Ulrik the Slayer last week this week its $33. A Rhino now cost $55.

Unbelievable!

Are you looking at the AUS or Canadian site or something? The prices are still the usual for me, 19.75 for that Ulric and 37.25 for a rhino...

Ya, when I switched it to AUS, the Rhino was $55, check your country!
If I forget to post a reference for you, please let me know!
If you are not going to post a reference for me, please explain why, maybe I can fix it!

I did that with Canadian a few weeks ago - about gave up the hobby, until I realized I had it switched, too.

Still $50 for a Codex though, and that is absurd.

Thats why I dropped my Chaos and nid armies. Gonna keep DA and orks. BA is another fun army and the IG was a gift. When those books come out :'(

To step on my soapbox for a bit here. There are plenty of great mins games out there if you decide GW is no longer fun or you don't like there prices. This being a hobby, everyone should hopefully play/collect/paint what they enjoy. GW is not a hobby but part of it IMHO.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I couldn't agree more. I won't be buying any more GW products (other than the occasional Specialist items). I will keep what I have, but there are a lot of nice rule sets out there and a ton of very interesting models.

I agree with you both. I have Tau and Skaven, lots of units and models, and don't plan on buying more, except if I find something NIB or NOS for a good price here on BT.
Besides, it's now clear to me how overpowered new codices are (new to GW as I am), so it sucks they don't care on balancing all armies. This upsets me more than anything, though.

I have no issues paying $50 for a hardback codex that will last for 3+ years or more (probably closer to 5). And I don't even own a CSM army, it's just for reference!

The point was cost over time. If a codex lasts you 5 years (which is the rate at which GW is working lately), it's $10/year. Hardly unreasonable.

If I sell you a shoelace that will last 5 years, would you pay me $50 for it?

For me, WHAT we get in these codices is not worth $10 a year.

Lower rating? You ship first.

Ackk!!! I wrote a long rant and basically it stated that I hated how GW is run. Which I do.

The pricing has gotten out of hand. A store opened near my family recently and I went there. ONCE. It was enough. I couldn't believe the experience. Still can't. I wouldn't dare take my son there. Such a shame.

There are a lot of great games out there...

This was a better rant. :-D

lol, it's all relative.
The argument here should not be "Codexes are too expensive!", it should be "I do not care to pay for the content of new GW codexes." Cost is relative from person to person. I think shelling X dollars for a ski lift ticket is foolish, as it's 24 hours of sliding down a hill in the cold. That skiier might think the $50 I spent on a codex is foolish, as it's a book for little army men.

It's just a pet peeve of mine to watch people who are wargamers gripe about the costs of a luxury item, and then turn around and pay $55 for an XBox game that they play for two weeks, or $18 on a 2-hour movie.
