Seeking Digital Camera Suggestions

Post by HarlequinZero »

Hey all. I need to buy a CHEAP digital camera. Preferably not more than $150. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just good, clean pictures.

I don't know a lot about what's good, since I only research them when I'm in the market myself, but I can tell you this; whatever you get, make sure it's got a macro function. It's for close ups, like miniatures, and is only missing on the VERY CHEAPEST (and I don't mean price) cameras.
If you're familiar with macro... don't assume it's there. Make sure you look for it.

I recommend Canon, the lenses on even their lower end stuff are good.

I do like the Rebel I bought earlier this year. Granted, it's not a low-end, but I like it more than the higher end Panasonic Lumixes I owned prior.

I would almost hate to say, that I have a very cheap camera... it is not even purely a camera, it is my cell phone. However, with proper lighting and strategy I get pretty nice pictures from it.

Here is a link to my business side of the forums. BTW I use a iPhone 4s to take all the pictures in there.

As Oaf said, Cannon is a good choice. You can get a pretty decent one even on their lower end.

Remember that the battery is important. I had a digital camera that used a battery hard to find. Think it used 3V batteries, expensive and hard to find. If I put in regular batteries, it would turn on the camera and then drain the batteries.

I almost always buy Sony Cybershot cameras. The battery is normally the same (NP-BN1), so if you want to upgrade later; the battery is still compatable. I started with a 10MP, worked my way through as they upgraded size and now have a 16.1 MP camera.

I use it for concerts, family events, work photos and miniature pictures. The best thing about it is that it can easily fit into a jeans pocket, yet can still take decent photos.

They can be cheap ($99) through to more expensive (over $200) depending on the model.

My second choice is Cannon.
I'll Buy That for a Dollar !!
