Re: Red Dawn?
The "military reserve" of N.Korea just means every citizen would be called up press gang style if needed to fight. They'd probably be armed with sporks, but they would be forced into combat.

Re: Red Dawn?
For ME... I rarely have issues with suspension of disbelief. If I can suspend it for Star Wars, I cn suspend it for this.
Think of it as an alternate dimension Earth, where North Korea isn't as crappy as it is now. LOL Either way, I can rate it based on how well it was filmed, acted, etc. Only when it's over will I whine and complain about how it didn't do the original justice. LOL

Re: Red Dawn?
I think it really comes down to this. It's supposed to be China but the US doesn't want to offend China and doesn't want to put china in that enemy spot in movies ,now reserved for Arabs, that used to be reserved for Russia. They hold the claim check on most of the USA's Debt and no one wants to piss off that loan shark that you owe money to. He just might break your legs. So they picked that guy that kinda looks like China but really could not do jack about it.

Re: Red Dawn?
Just look at the game HomeFront.
ENTERTAINMENT!! Personally I would rather have a more realistic enemy like o say China or even a Islamic uprising world wide.... O yeah thats actually slowly happening. HMM... think I'll go buy some more ammo today before it's taxed to the point I can't buy anymore.

Close, but not exactly.Norseman wrote:I think it really comes down to this. China's too big of a market for movies and stuff now. Make them the antagonist and they'll ban the movie, thus making "a billion screaming Chinamen" (Do I get bonus points for working in the quote?) no longer a market for your movie.
Owing China money isn't a worry. There's an old saying, "Owe the bank $100,000 and they own you. Owe the bank $100,000,000 and YOU own THEM." Anything happens to US, and China goes down the sh***er.

Re: Red Dawn?
Well in order to deposit troops via an airlift you need air supremacy or at least the ability to contest it. So again quality of your armed forces comes into play(Air Force).s_o_r_r_o_w wrote:The only really relevant consideration from your list is airlift capacity.rokassan wrote:
All they did was look at numbers. Not their economy, military production capability, airlift capacity, naval strength, military technology, ability to supply their troops, raw materials to manufacture weapons. North Korea lacks all of this by a looooooong shot.
All the rest is about WINNING a war, not conducting an INVASION.
A variety of daring military actions of an inferior party vs a superior have brought victory to the weaker side--similarly, a variety of bold attacks have resulted in ignominious defeat.
China is of course more believable than N. Korea--but it is certainly believable that, with sufficient airlift ability, N. Korea could deposit enough troops in the western US to make things very uncomfortable for the people living there. Airlift also becomes simpler if the trip is one-way.
If your looking for sympathy get a dictionary...I think it falls between sh*t and syphilis.

Re: Red Dawn?
Hollywood has completely run out of original ideas. Pretty soon they'll be remaking the remakes. They must watch alot of late night TV for ideas.
On a side note, I REFUSE to watch the A-Team movie. I loved it as a kid in the 80's. But in the movie there's no Mr. T!!
He made that show. Why can't they just make a movie with 4 bad-ass dudes and call it something else?

Then you missed out. In terms of catching the spirit of the tv show, the ATeam movie was spot on--even with no Mr. T.pupidypi wrote:Hollywood has completely run out of original ideas. Pretty soon they'll be remaking the remakes. They must watch alot of late night TV for ideas.

I will have to agree. While no Mr T, the A-Team movie was great for capturing the spirit of the series.
