Rash of Backouts?

Post by gwaddict »

So has anyone else been experiencing a crap ton of backouts lately? I have had 3 in the past 2 months. I usually have zero tolerance for such shenanigans and have been chastisied for my fervor for posting backout reports but I have been overly patient lately. One guy sold half his stuff after agreeing to a trade, another just never shipped, and the last guy hasnt logged in for over 2 weeks after agreeing to a trade... Is it just me? do I need to start cracking the whip again or what?
Rules
1. I do my best to communicate & ship in a timely matter & expect the same
2. If you or I back out of a trade expect the other to post so in the b/o forum etc, if thats not okay then I am not your man to trade with
3. An offer of "$25" for an item does not include s&h if you are not okay with actual shipping charges from the USPS on top of that then say "$25 incl s&h".. simple enough..
4. Please be polite, leave feedback

No, but I'm seeing a lot more folks who just don't reply to PMs. I've had several who have made offers, and I made a counteroffer, and I never hear back from them. Seriously people, at least reply and say "No thanks". I don't run any personal trade rules in my sig, but I'm tempted to add a line about it.

Same things on both points for me lately too - ESPECIALLY no replies.

@imaginios: I immediately add someone to the foes list if BT shows the message has been opened and not replied to within 48 hours. I can always go back and change it if need be. Short, sweet and to the point.

@gwaddict: Cracking the whip is one thing, but hold the line at the level at which you trade now (i.e., being a bit more understanding) and see where it gets you.

You can ALWAYS go back to being Indiana Jones ;).

Lower BT ratings ships first; paypal preferred. Reply to PMs, even with a "no thanks." I may lag, but I will reply!

Please try to leave a ref for each transaction. I always will. It tells myself and others what kind of trade partner I am!

Hey there gwaddict...

I think you and I have traded before? Anyway...

I feel your pain bro, and the pain of the posters after you - when i see they have "read" my PM and they never respond, well... it automatically makes me think they're a douchetasticassbag! In my years here, I have had ONE situation where a guy wanted to buy my stuff and I never, EVER heard from him. So - I obviously never shipped and received payment. That said - I have ALWAYS replied to PMs!! Now, when I'm not in 'trading mode' it may be months before I check btown and - because of that - I have responded to PMs pretty "late" - but - I ALWAYS respond!!

Here's my advice to you, bro... don't EVER, EVER lower YOUR standards!!!!!!!! - SERIOUSLY!! As soon as you do, others will! And - as a community I care deeply about - WE CANNOT HAVE THAT!!

Stick to your guns, brother, seriously! Your standards are NOT unreasonable!!!! WE - THE COMMUNITY - determine what is acceptable and what is not. It is people like you, me, and all of the other 'traders' here, that keep this community what it is.

Gwaddict - I feel your pain, truly I do, but don't lower your standards. There are times of smoothness and times of not-so-smooth - keep to what YOU know is true, what you know is RIGHT. There are a ton of "silent partners" that support you, they just haven't posted here.

Cheers, bro! :D
