Yep, and every once in a while my wife makes me clean the stash of boxes out of the basement.

Re: Reduce, reuse, re... ship?
I reuse almost every box I get sent to me. My porch is dedicated to packing suppies.
I actually had an idea I thought might be cool, if we could get people to go along with it.
Being a trading site, I thought it would be cool if we took a generic sized box and saw how many times/people we could pass it along to. Upon getting it, the person could sign a slip or the inside of the box..

If you send me a PM, I WILL answer. If I send you one, PLEASE DO THE SAME. Even if it is to just say you aren't interested or the item is no longer available.

Interesting idea.
You should make it part of your next deal.

Lower rating? You ship first.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

I try to reuse as much packing materials as I can. It's saved me money, which is good. Also, I really hate filling my trash bin with foam peanuts.

Yes, sir. I reuse as many boxes as I can. Boxes are freakin' expensive if you're not shipping Priority!porkuslime wrote:In addition to gpfreddette and myself doing the exchange program, I KNOW I have gotten a box from TheRhino who was sent it by someone else here on the site..
I think everybody does this to some degree. I know I keep an eye out for interesting small boxes at work, just on the offchance I can mail in them..
The tiny red hairs people get in my trades are from my boxer, Johann.
I've had to cut back on the amoutn of packing materials I save since the wife moved me out of the closet I had and into an old armoire in the office. baby clothes take up a lot of space!
Re: Reduce, reuse, re... ship?
My little hall closet is bursting with boxes nested inside of boxes or boxes filled with foam peanuts or those airbags. I've got so much that I have to either toss whatever I get now or give it away. Maybe this community should host a packing material storage setup as a part of the premium service you guys offer. Send in stuff, get credit towards other stuff in inventory or pay cash for it if you don't have extra to spare. I'm brand new here, but I'd mail off a couple of boxes with peanuts and go premium to support such an effort.
EDIT: Someone would have to devote a small room or garage to the effort for it to be money-making for the site. Stuff coming in would be worth slightly less than stuff going out and you'd probably want to restrict box size so as to not flood this person's house with ginormous boxes that are useless for miniature shipping.

All my excess packing peanuts go to the UPS Store. They take them and reuse them for customers.

No, they resell them to their customers.
