Looking for some OOP SM Expertise

Post by Alzarakh »

Hi all, bought a bunch of marines off someone in a local trade and came across a few older marines. They don't have a copyright date so I'm assuming they're from the RT era of the game. Any help in identifying them would be great. I usually just look for the years production and go, "oh 1994 = 3rd" Or "1991= secondish" (I don't even know if this is correct, I started to play around the mid of 3rd in 1998)

Here are the pics!

Any help would be appreciated. I know stuff of legends would probably have them up but without dates I don't really know how to track them down other than spending a night looking through old pics.

[Admin Edit: No offers/inquiries for trades in these forums. List them in the trade forums, please. Thanks.]

Thanks.

Marine # 1 is a Doom Eagle model. I know that much. The others all *look* to be RT to me.

2&3 are RT marines. 2 has plasma gun. 3 has plasma gun and I forget which kind of pistol.

5 is rt or just after but it's nothing special.

Unless they are a must have for someone's collection, there's nothing special about any of the them.

Okay, thanks for the replies. If they're nothing too special I'll probably just paint them up and add them to my army. It would be nice to have a few older guys filling in as sergeants or something.

Hey, I just found that 3 of the 5 of them are death eagles. From the page they're from 1989. MagickalMemories was spot on with the one marine. 1, 2, 5 are death eagles.

True, I think I'll add them to the trade forum if I'm not going to use them. Someone will find a good spot for them in their army.

Old Marine 3 is actually an uncommon Corvus (Mark 6) Marine. He comes from the tail end of Rogue Trader, and just before the move to 2nd Edition 40k. He is the rarest of the bunch.

Old Marine 4 is a Rogue Trader marine, armed, obviously, with a plasma gun and a hand flamer. He is not especially rare, or even uncommon, but he IS carrying a fat plasma gun. He is desirable because he is carrying a special weapon and probably slightly rarer than the many, many medics, librarians, chaplains, and techmarines.

1, 2, and 5, as mentioned, are Death Eagle Marines, a minor variation from the basic Rogue Trader line, typified by the helmet that would become the Mark 7. Not especially rare, but there were only 3 of them in the original line Rogue Trader Marines, which numbered a little under 100.
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.
