Gamer Help Needed

I have alot of PDF shared files and reference pages for PP,GW etc and I was wondering something, can a kindle hold and read PDF files? I dont want to take my labtop to the store and leave it there but the kindle is nice, small and i can read other books on it. would it work?

a friend of mine has a nook color and he can put pdf's on it... intact it converts them to the much easier to navigate ebook style

I don't know about the kindle (maybe the fire)

the reason i said kindle fire was i believe its the only color version. but I will go research the nook color. thanks.

The nook has 2 color versions. The much cheaper Nook Color and the Nook Tablet. The Nook Tablet has a somewhat better looking screen and the option to increase the storage using an micro SD card. the 8GB Nook Tablet is the same price as the Kindle Fire and in my opinion a better device.

I bought a Nook Color when they came out a few years ago but I'm running a custom Android ROM off the SD card to turn it into a full fledged Android Table. If you have any other questions about either device let me know and I can answer them.

im moving to realize that I want color, pictures in black and white with models is boring. so which one do you reccomend. the nook color or kindle fire?

You can on the Kindle 2, Not great a bit of a pain to do so. Kindle fire is much better for reading and getting pdf's on there.
Nooks are pretty easy to read the pdf's on them.
Then theres your tablets as well that will do what you want.
http://www.tabletreaderinfo.com/ is a decent site to browse around and find answers.
One thing to check on as well is if your local library has them in and/or available for checkout. If they do I suggest stopping in and talking to them about it or checking it out to play around with.

my wife had a kindle fire for a day to replace her old android she got tired of.

kindle would only let her download stuff from their site. she has a load of videeos, & books on her netbook, in avi and pdf formats. kindle wouldn't let her import, copy or move thm to it. if she wanted to buy them again and download them off 'cloud' that was ok. it didn't even have al of the files availble that she had even if she wanted to buy them again.

make sure you can import files you already own before you buy.

Your best choices imo are the Nook Tablet or the Nook Color. Both of them are actually the same device but the Tablet has better hardware but the Color is cheaper. Both will do what you want to do but the Color is $30 cheaper.

Like I said I have the Nook Color and I watch Netflix on it, play games, surf the web, show pictures of my kids on it, and keep work documents on it for meetings.

I hope this doesn't count as advertising or anything but there is also a website that you can buy a SD card from that when you put it in the SD card slot for the Nook it turns it into a full fledged Android tablet. I made my own but if your not that technical savvy and have some extra cash in your pocket its kind of a cool thing. They have different size SD Cards also. If you want the website just pm me and I'll tell you where to go.

I'm actually taking my Nook to work today to update the Android build I have running on my SD card.

I have a nook color and I love it. I have not "androided" it, but it did update recently and I can watch my Netflix on it, along with taking all of my RPG PDF's with me when I go roleplay at a buddies house.

So, yes, a nook color would probably work great for what you are wanting.

So Nook Color will allow you to import PDFs.
What about AVI's, will it allow you to transfer from another computer?

Is it's memory expandable?

It comes with an SD slot, so you can buy as many memory cards as you wish (they are pretty cheap on feebay). I bought one card and pretty much fit all of my RPG's on it.

It EASILY sends files from the computer to the Nook. I DESPISE apple and "sinking" as I like to call it. My wife and daughter have Ipods and those things... ack.
I digress.

Um. I haven't tried AVI's and I don't even know if I have any AVI's to check. I will look and see.
