missing army...lost in slough!..help please!

Post by chubooga »

sold two 28mm WW2 armies on ebay, day or so after they were posted fella contacted me saying that they were missing and asked for refund....

my wife kindly posted them for me and didnt get proof of posting.

it appears that the armies have gone missing on the way to slough, berkshire.... Im surprised because Ive posted thousands of packages over the years and never once has one gone missing, shame its the one that doesnt have Proof of posting on it............

anyway, armies look like this:

Are you sure your wife posted them? I once had this happen and found them sitting in my wife's car a week after they were "posted".

Of course its possible that the person you sent them to saw there was no way to prove posting and just said he didn't receive them. This happened to me once on ebay. The only way I know he actually received them was I saw them on ebay a few months later but had no way to prove they were mine.

The fact that he called them missing one or 2 days after you sent them is hugely suspicious. I mean, typically, that's not enough time for it to have arrived in the first place to even call it missing.
How far away from each other are you?

Why didn't you send with a Delivery Confirmation # and/or insurance?

MM he's in the UK.. not the words 'posted' not 'mailed'. also Slough, Berkshire. UK I believe.
They may not have d/c with Royal Mail. They should have some form of insurance though, but it might not be cheap.
Heh, I was called a Grognard. ;-)

Granted, I was thinking he was in the US. A quick IP check shows me he's in the UK. So, good catch there, kt.
When I said "Del. Conf.," it was just from motor memory. I was thinking "Registered" which, IF he was in the US, is like $12 extra and can be used for International Shipments (if I recall correctly... I'm sure you'll let me know if I just pulled that out of thin air. LOL).

Looks like they've got a "recorded signed for" option for first & second class mail. If that doesn't include packages, I'm sure they'd offer something similar.
