Yay for online contests!

Post by aurak_merc »

Tonight, my daughter and I went to the overwhelming nastiness that is Taco Bell. She loves taco's, and I did not feel like cooking, so yeah, we ended up there. Even though I tend to find most of their food detestable, I actually like their little Frito-burrito thingy's they are selling now. On a whim, I purchased the Big Box variant (comes with a taco, frito-burrito, crunchwrap, drink). So, we came home and ate the stuff, and I noticed the Unlock the Box code on the top. Now, over the years, I have won a few things from silly online contests (Pepsi Optimus Prime, piles of cheapy movies, small gift cards) but tonight, I won a Playstation Vita. YAY for me! I also get to choose an extra free game, but none are all that appealing so I am unsure which to get (Little Big Planet, Mod Racers, MLB12 are the choices). I will probably go with Little Big Planet as I have heard from PS3 owners that it was a fun game.

Of course, I have no real interest in it, so it will most likely end up on here once I get it, hehe.

Just thought I would share my tale of awesome free stuff, and encourage others to reach for the stars and eat crummy psuedo-food.

Awesome!

I had one in the house (housemate), and it was nice having some serious videogaming (vs. the much fluffier, though still fun Wii titles).

I'd suggest getting whichever sells best on ebay etc., then putting that money towards a fun game, and playing a bit. It really is a nice system, though I wouldn't be too disappointed taking it off your hands

I wish I had your luck here, I never win anything online. Instead I usually have to be somewhere in person to win something.

I usually never win anything either.

A couple monthes ago, 1 of the cereal companies had a contest where you could win a cash gift card, or coupons. It was supposed to inside the box.

In the morining when I'm pouring cereal into a bowl; I'm on autopilot and not awake.
I started to throw away the empty box. I glance inside and see a small packet stuck inside the box.
I look and figure it's probably a coupon to save 50 cents off a gallon of milk and box of cereal.
I figure what the heck, I use both..if it's the right type.

What's inside? A $100 Visa giftcard.
It says to go online to activate.
I figure, great, I gotta sign up for some scam and get all types of spam emails

Nope. Just had to sign in and activate. No personal info asked.

So I got $100, usable anywhere but online.
I bought Dreadfleet.
Heh, I was called a Grognard. ;-)

Well, it has been almost a month since I "won" and still nothing from Tacobell, Sony, or any other company. So, I did a quick search online and it turns out that Taco Bell is denying prizes to people who "won" on the 30th. Supposedly a hacker tried to break into their Taco Fortress of gooey meat product and fouled up the contest. So, it looks like I will most likely not be receiving a Vita. Lame. At least I will save some cash by not eating at that place again. I haven't liked it since high school (but it can be convenient), so now, due to a mix of annoyance/digestive intolerance/nerdrage, I shall hereby NOT eat there again.

Unless I do get a Vita

Dude--have you played it yet? You might actually come out with a net loss here. :)

Wow, that's pretty terrible luck, there. Sorry to hear that they're being idiots. Let us know what happens.

I heard that if you won on the 30th, you were in a seperate drawing for another VITA, due to the hacking incident.

Thats lame that they are denying you of your prize :(

Only thing I ever won online was a Youtube contest being made by a guy named Darthburn. You posted a video and he put ya in a random drawing for some Warhammer Fantasy stuff. I ended up winning the grand prize, but then he just dissappeared, and never sent out the prizes or responded to the people who won, so yeah, I feel your frustration.
Lower rating? You ship first.
