Why lock?

Post by Mr Foo »

Sorry, just like to know why my topic (viewtopic.php?f=43&t=153851) has been lock. Would be great if one of you guys could PM me as to the reason why so I don't make the same mistake again.

Hmm. According to here: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=149834

However, to me this doesn't make any sense. Most of our members prefer to discuss trades via PM. As such, most topics go unreplied. In this case, how are we supposed to update our threads and make it known? This problem is further amplified by the lack of a 'Bump post' button found on other forums, where the thread is bumped up without anybody having to make any physical posts.

Good day,

Your posts were locked for 'bumping'

Basically you added information in a second post instead of editing the original post (including title) which 'bumped' your thread which is not allowed.

You can post a new ad every seven days per forum, you may edit the post as many times in the 7 days as you like but you may not post to that ad unless you are answering a question posted by another user.

This is all covered under rule #13 of the rules located here: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=45470.

Thank you,

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

Lower Rating ships/pays first.

'Updating an ad is not bumping if there have been changes made to the inventory or pricing presented in the ad. It is bumping if "hey i still have this stuff available" is all that's written, or something to that extent.' < - ?

Replying to an ad is not updating it. Updating an ad is done so by editing the original content. There's an "edit" button in every one of your threads you can click to do that.

To add on to what Gerry said; if you want to update your ad with a REPLY to it, you can do that every 7 days, as well. At that point, however, you'll get better exposure by simply reposting it, anyway.

Also, if someone asks you a question in your ad, you can reply to it in the ad without having any problems (but that will reset the 7 day period for REPLYing to it [though, not for posting a NEW ad]).

I hope that clarifies.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Ah. Thanks so much. You guys really ought to edit the rules sometime. I've been reading the rules but there's so little covered there that I only know I've broken a rule when something happens.
