Ok, thank you for the info! Well guys, what would you think about having a week-two weeks time to finish and flock your model? Also, I assumed we would just do standered infantry size models. What do you guys think?

Sure? I think infantry-sized is a good size. And I think 1-2 weeks is also fine, I myself would appreciate having two weekends to work on it.
It's a rule of thumb for trades: check my feedback, I'll check yours. Lower rating ships first.

Ok great! So two weeks it is. And standered infantry is good. So like a SM captain would work but a Terminater would be to big right? At least that is what I'm thinking by standered infantry. I don't know how you guys have done it in earlier contests, but do we post a pic of the model before we paint it? Sounds like a good idea to me. Or is that were we need a mod to open a new thread so we can?

I had a question about my model. This guy is supposed to have a big banner on his back (As I am sure you guys know) But I am missing it. And there is a big smooth spot where it attaches. So I put these swords and a shield on instead to cover that up. Is that to much of a conversion? It doesn't seem like it would be but just wanted to check that way if it is, I can look for something else to paint.

Hey guys, just got a list of rules from a Mod that should fit our needs perfectly. How do these sound?

The Rules

1. You must paint your own model, commission painted pieces DO NOT count! To keep in the realm of honesty regarding painting, work in progress photos are a MUST!

2. Any futuristic or fantasy game system's pieces can be used.

3. Creativity is encouraged.

4. Model must be completely painted, no half painted models.

5. You must have at least two (4) pictures of the model. Before and after shots are strongly encouraged.

6. Have fun with what you are painting.

7. Converted models are accepted but not necessary. Conversions will not be taken into account as far as best painted results. Those voting, please only vote on painting skill, not conversion work.

8. Absolutely NO vulgar models. Please don't do a conversion that is tasteless and profane and submit it.

9. Those in charge of the contest as well as the admins and moderators reserve the right to remove any contest entry we feel violates any or all of these rules.

Entries will be voted on. We will open a special forum for people to post their entries, and there will be a poll at the top for everyone to choose their favorite. One vote per person, and yes you can vote for yourself.

Well this answers my lasts posts question. : ) So let me get this straight. The guys who are interested in this are,

CMSheats

insidius

gohkmkelvin

extropymine

Bulkoth

So we could do it with five if EVERYBODY painted something. Is there anybody else who would like to get involved? Also, the guys that I have listed, could you please post and confirm that you are going to do this (If you agree with the rules above) Thanks!

You're the one doing the work, so you gt the last say.
On #1, though, in the past they always had before & after pics. "In progress" images weren't necessary. Like I said, though, you'll get the final say on this.

Lastly:
We will open a special forum for people to post their entries, and there will be a poll at the top for everyone to choose their favorite.
We already have a special forum for it. It's called "Bartertown Contests." ; )
The staff member you get to help, though, would start a special THREAD for voting. You would, of course, be responsible for using this thread or a new one to post your "before" shots and any "in progress" shots.

Before getting too deep into this, you should find a staff member to sponsor it.

Ok, well insidius is serious about this. Hopefully the other guys are to. As far as a mod, I might have gotten somebody. I will let you guys know what he says. I think your right. We probably don't need during pics of the models. Just before and after.

Those rules sound fine to me. I especially like the "convert, but get no points for it" part since I tend to customize my figures and I'd hate to have that either disqualify me or give me advantage. I still need to pick a model, though!

Wonderful! I am still waiting to heat back from the mod, but that is three of the five that have confirmed.

Maybe our 'before' pics could also feature our hand giving a thumbs up sign to prove their legitimacy, or some other indicator. But if no one feels that is necessary, fine by me. I know some folks like to show something pictured with a date on it, like a newspaper, but I really don't want to have to buy anything :P

Me too. I've put off painting her for so long, but I think my skills with a brush have improved since I bought her so I may be able to do her justice hopefully.

Good day,

I was wondering if there would be any sort of prizes?

I understand the infantry restriction but will that be a base size restriction - 25/30 as apposed to a model on a 50 or even 40? I am considering painting a Lady Justice Avatar but she is on a 50mm base.

Of course that depends on the question to the above question.

Thank you,

Suggestion (obviously for everyone EXCEPT Sid)...
Either the Staff member in charge or CMS should receive the images of the models and post them in the thread. This way, it removes any possibility of complaints of favoritism.
If, for example, I were to enter and win, nobody would need to worry that I might've gotten votes based on my status here, rather than the skill behind my model.

Just a thought.

Eric

Oh, and, CMS... Is this just "for fun," or have you managed to run down a business or advertiser to offer support for the contest?

I am in, but the Ogres I am currently working on are out I guess... I can scrounge something up. I would think that a piece of paper with your screen name on it beside the model in the picture would be good enough for legitimacy...
