mrsuitcasegames wrote:hehe, the trek game? Yeah its still kickin' but not like it was AFAIK. None of the cool graph paper ship compartment detail, its more BFG kind of game now. I've never played the old school one but from what I've heard the detail on taking damage. crew, and ship functions was awesome. You could really feel your crew die and see how its really what is holding your ship together. You only had one maybe three ships, but thats how it should be in star trek, your fighting force was you and the crew of the ship you captain. It seemed like a great game.

The rules as far AFAIK haven't changed in 30 years.
My rules are from 1990-91. From what I can see on the site, there ahve been a couple editon changes, more like erratta, spelling & grammar corrections, making words into heading/group types, than full 40k-esque changes. The site has FREE downloads covering the changes. The full 2010 rules are only $50.I might just breakdown and buy them instead of going thru the erratta.
There have been the4 "X-Ships" out since neXt generation released. Also SFB has several non-Trek canon races, Kzinti, Frax, Andromadans, off the top of my head.
True, thew full rulebook requires a 5 inch binder, but that has every race. How big would the 40k book be with all of the codexes included. [as big as RT was.

There are 2 FREE versions of the cadet rules, for those wo don't want to have all of the bells & whistles. [but high energy turns, mines and transporter bombs are fun.]
