Messages Problems
Anyone else have periodic problems accessing your private messages?
I've had some issues with it for quite awhile, and on multiple computers.
Sometimes i can view the entire site, and send a PM from a topic post, but cant get into my message folder. Sometimes i can get into my folder, but can open any messages. Sometimes i can get in, ad get to the message, but cant send a reply.
Anyone else ever have these problems? Is this a quirk of the website, or did i do something that kinda jamed up the system?

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Re: Messages Problems
I'm having the same problem and more. Beginning about a week ago loading my Inbox took 3-5 tries and incredibly long load times. As of today it's much worst and a lot of PM's won't even go out due to time outs etc. Very frustrating.
Re: Messages Problems
The pm box was buggy all day yesterday took over 2hrs to get into it.

Re: Messages Problems
Well, I don't know the reason (tech issues that deep are TrademasterAdam's sole realm), but I can confirm that there were site-wide load problems, especially in PM's. I found that there were less problems (though just as high annoyance factors) if, instead of simply clicking the link for whatever forum/thread/message I wanted to view, I right-clicked and chose to open it in a new tab.
Looks a lot smoother today, though.

Re: Messages Problems
I haven't been able to get PMs to load consistently for at least 2 weeks. Mostly, it will time out. I've had this problem when trying to post as well. Not as much when I'm just viewing pages, but it still happens more often than it should.
Always ship with delivery confirmation, I do the same.

Re: Messages Problems
Started mid last week for me. Intermittently, at first. Got more frequent and more annoying near the end of the week/weekend.
It's back to (less than) intermittent for me now, though PMs were a REAL PITA last night.

Re: Messages Problems
I'm having this issue too - it seems like I'll be notified that I received a message via e-mail, but it won't show up when I log in to Bartertown. It's happened twice - The first time, I got the message after 2 hours or so, and it happened again 7 hours ago (I still haven't received the message).

Okay... I've never even heard of that happening before.
Anyone else experiencing this?

You sure you're not being notified about messages you have already received?ELin wrote:I'm having this issue too - it seems like I'll be notified that I received a message via e-mail, but it won't show up when I log in to Bartertown. I have often received email notifications that are a little...out of date.
I am always in the market for weird and wonderful GW oddbitz and ephemera. PM me if you have something old/weird/rare.

Re: Messages Problems
Ahhh. I'd have to count, which is hard to do, since I've deleted some messages, and I don't remember how many.
I'll just post here if it happens again, I guess.

Re: Messages Problems
Please, do.
If it happens, please include the time the email arrived in your email inbox, as well as the time the PM arrived in your PM inbox.
Also, just in case, don't delete either message; the PM or email.
We'll forward the info on to TrademasterAdam, and see if it's something he can look into. Having the actual messages available might be of value.
Thanks.
Eric

Re: Messages Problems
I tend to get e-mail notifications about an hour after the PM actually hits my forum inbox.
I'm guessing you're like me and have the site up most of the day, and so see your forum PMs instantly on the site - then get the e-mail an hour later. It appears that you should have one waiting, but in fact it's just slow.
I'm guessing either the system's that busy, OR since you can edit PMs after you send, it's a grace period for fixing typos / second thoughts.
As a side question - when was the site's bandwidth allowance last increased? As much traffic as it must get, I have to wonder if it's not all just because of clogged interwebs...

Re: Messages Problems
Can't speak on the bandwidth. The site's owner, TrademasterAdam, handle that stuff.
Linrandir might know.
As for the email thing... I usually get the email within about 5 minutes of receiving the PM. Always have.
Might just be a delay in your email host?
