Advice on dealing with Ebay Scammer

Post by gogglev »

Hey everyone,

I had some issues with an ebay purchase from over a month ago, and while I would just file my paypal claim and be rid of this whole thing, his negative feedback from the past month shows that he's screwed a ton of other people and who knows how many others that haven't left feedback or filed their claim yet. In mid may, I ordered 3 IG command squads, 2 sentinels, 2 HWS, and 20 cadians from the seller Fr33domfight3r on ebay, his feedback is here:

At the time, he had almost no negatives or neutrals, and I got everything for about 108 dollars shipped. The catch was that items could take from 9 to 14 business days to ship.

I waited about 2 weeks, and sent him a few messages to ask for a DC# for my order, but never got a reply. Shortly after this, the negatives started showing up on his feedback, pretty much all stating that they never received their items, no communication, nothing. I filed my paypal claim and got my money back, as well as requested his contact information from ebay. Normally, I would be happy that I got my money back, but I feel that just letting this guy get away with all this isn’t right. I’m pretty sure paypal just reimburses you when you win your claim, and the seller keeps his money. If it was just one or two people, that would not be too bad, but 25 negatives and 12 neutrals in the past month means he has screwed over a LOT of people and he is getting away with it.

Ebay gave me his phone number and name[also a no-no] which was obviously fake, but his phone number [Dude! Really. You can't do that] (please let me know if I should remove this [Yes. It should have been remoced]) led me to [a web site] and [another web site]. When I emailed the [second web site], I was told the phone number belonged to [a different individual than the name edited above], and the [*ahem*] website has a warhammer section. Also the location of the seller and the [place] match ([Somewhere in] NC), so I’m guessing its pretty likely this is the guy. My email to him got no response, and a phone call went straight to voicemail. Now, my question is basically, do I have any right to pursue this matter further with the police or FBI? Maybe I am being vindictive, but I’m pretty angry that this guy is basically getting away with ripping so many people off. Sorry for such a long post, and thanks for any help.

Just my $0.02, but if it was me, I'd compile the info you've collected so far, your speculation regarding who the culprit is (this Matt Palmer), and send it to Ebay customer service email and the FBI internet fraud website (can be found in IronHide's signature).

That's just my opinion - I happen to agree with your sense of "making jerks pay for their misdeeds".

Essentially, you were robbed. Even if he didn't use a knife, gun, or verbal threats. You were robbed. Seek legal recourse. You can call his local police department, and/or use the links in my sig, and file a report.

If you want to get a response from him, leave a message on his voicemail (or at the [place] -edited to match the OP's post, above) stating your intentions to call the police for his misdealings.
