Paint pitted? How to fix?

Hi,

I got some models in a trade that were partially painted. The color scheme that he started was just fine, so I decided to just take it from there.
However, when I started getting into it I noticed many of the models have a lot of "pitting". I think either the dude was using too much paint or just had air bubbles in his paint.

In any case, the little pits are there and I don't know how to get rid of them without stripping the models and starting over. Most of the pitting occurs in the crevices and stuff.

Any suggestions?

For bubbles in the crevices you can scrape them out with an exacto knife. Could the pitting have been caused by the primer he used?

It could have been caused by the primer, I don't actually know.
I will try cutting out some of it with a knife, but I don't know how I will be able to get into the smaller spaces.

Is there any kind of paste like material I can use to smooth it over?

Nothing i can think of.

If you have "pitting" in the crevasses, I think you're probably seeing the results of slatherd on VERY thin paint.

I've done it myself in the past.

If you mix your paint with (usually) water, you can end up with a lot of little air bubbles in it. Those can transfer to your model.
If you don't take the time to get rid of (pop) them, they'll move right on over from paint pot to brush to model.
If you use too thick of a layer of this thin paint, it'll flow into your model's recesses. As the paint dries, the bubbles "pop." The paint's dried, though, so it doesn't flow into the opening.

You're better off to just strip 'em.
