If you were using them as Blood angles fly a Sang Priest up near them to get within the 6" and give them Feel no Pain!!!

I personally can't think of something other than the usual Nob Bikers or TH/SS Termies that would make your points back.

On second thought maybe this would...

Deepstrike vs. Imperial Guard tanks. Charge multiple tanks squadrons. You could probably base two squadrons if they were close. All the hits carry through, so you could in theory destroy 6 Leman Russ.

I personally do not think many players would have a problem with this unit. 3+/3+ just isn't go enough for the 760 points investment. You still are going to fail 33% of the saves. Torrent of fire will destroy them. If this was 3rd ed and you could KEEP them in HtH, I would say they would be a better choice. If you get 2 Baal Preds, 2 Dakka Preds, or 2 LR Exterminators letting loose . Not to mention 50 conscripts rapid firing at them or 4 flamers from a suicide junior officer squad.

Fun to see but it will be a one hit wonder I think. It will be kill something REALLY REALLY good then die horribly.

That's a good point, and follows what my fears for the unit would be, but it brings up a good point:

Why can't I stay in combat - or at least, take just 1 round of fire, and then jump in again? Assuming I pick a good spot to Heroic Intervention/Deep Strike in, where I can get some nasty unit and/or some unit that is well screened by terrain from the rest of his army, I should be able to move into another combat without getting too badly shot up, right?

I know that the "Pacman" effect of 3rd ed was nerfed considerable because of how annoying it was, but has Consolidation been totally removed from the game then? If I jump into a horde army, I would hope that I could mosey on over into another squad within 3" and get into another fight that way. But admittedly, I haven't really gotten that far in my reading of the 5th ed rules.

You can no longer consolidate into another unit. That's why you need to assault TWO units.
Hopefully, you won't kill them all, then you can wipe them out on their turn (allowing you to assault freely on your own turn).

If you're assaulting vehicles with this squad, try to assault a LOT of them, or some infantry, too.

Consolidation is gone because there is running now, I mean think about what it would be like to have both... Hi tau! Let me eat you... All of you.

But this also means Black Templar ain't the best anymore, I mean 1pf attack in a unit?even with magic movement a dred will lock up a unit for a while. True auto/assault cannons are bad mambos to go against but yeah BT not cool no more.
