TERMINATORS???
Alright guys, I've been playin 40k off and on for a long time. but personal never cared to much for terminators. I have always favored trying to squeeze as many figs out as i can, being a marine player I'm already out number. I just feel that termins eat up to many points and are hard press to recover those points. CC termins are a little better at paying for themselves. now with so many weapons out there that neg. there 2+ save. choppers, rending, etc. i feel that they are just not wroth their points you spend on them.
so just for fun how many of you guys out there love your termins and will try to bring them out as much as you can?

Re: TERMINATORS???
I stopped using them in my chaos army years ago except for an occasional toss in to change it up. I hear mixed stories when it comes to effectiveness in games though.
I will say that with the new codex that I have seen a lot more thunderhammer/shield guys. That 3+ inv save is a pain in the rear.

CC Termies are worth their points. You will almost always earn your points back with them.

Re: TERMINATORS???
I love when people take termies... They cost soooo much for 5 guys.
If u decide to take them expect to loose them by turn 3 against competitive marine or guard players (null zone and sooo many shots)
personally th stsheild guys are the only good choice but they still run ya 200pts for 5. If u take any then take 3 squads (can't stop that many). Gknights are good against chaos (plauge marines cry). Reg shooters are only good in Black Templars (2x assault cannons in 5man sq) or DK angels (troops) besides that I will always ignore them when making a list.
When u take any unit u should look at it and say "what happens when I loose this unit?" I don't take anything that is a lynch pin unit or model and I just take multiple copies if Good units, not just one GREAT unit. I haven't really 'lost' a game that wasn't from poopy dice rolls (20las gun shots kill 7plauge marines? WTF? It take 72 las shots to kill one on average kinda thing).
What kind of list are u making? Do u want it to be a agro unit? Do u want it to shoot? Assault? How many points do u play?all these help to decide to play with/without them.
Me? I don't

Re: TERMINATORS???
In the tournament I won 2nd in Saterday, what was left of a 20 man gaurd unit was totally wiped out in a single turn but enemy shooting and a 5 man hammer/shield termy squad. The termies finished off the last couple of guys and were left sitting right in front of my command squad (I was actually glad to see the 20 man squad die in the enemy turn rather then my following one as it gave me a turn to shoot at them. Luckily, I was able to pour enough fire into them to kill all but one of them so that my assassin was able to walk in and pick off the last one. He lost a LOT of points and they only killed a few points worth themselves. Of course, I realize I got lucky as all get out.
hammer shield guys out of a raider is some scarey stuff.

Re: TERMINATORS???
My old 1000 sons army had a squad of 9 CSM Termies. They walked down the board and my opponent pored every shot he had at them untl they died. He was running GK. He used termies and was scared of running into a unit 9; 8 with a aspiring champion.
Heh, I was called a Grognard.

Re: TERMINATORS???
I run termines in a 10 man squad with 2 cyclones along with Lysander and a termine librain with strom shield. It works well because they can be combat squaded down if you need to. I know it is point heavy but you should see peoples faces.

Re: TERMINATORS???
Thats generally why I dont like to use them. A lot of eggs in one basket and the basket has a huge honking target on it. Most armies will pack a lot of plasma/las cannons if they know they will be facing marines just for termies. Thats why a lot of the time, I would even run an all infantry chaos army with no termies. Watch the enemy get frustrated as they waste all the anti/termy/tank weapons on infantry.

Re: TERMINATORS???
As already stated a bit earlier I notice there are more CSM players willing to field Terminators over the loyalists.
I myself play 1000 suns, and I also have a 9 man Termi squad.
My only beef with my squad is the fickleness of the ever changing lord. I'll shrug off just about every heavy weapon tossed at me, However the 1 turn I get 10 lasgun wounds is the turn I'll fail at least 6 of the armor saves.
CSM Termi are generally far cheaper than their loyalist counterpart simply becuase we are not forced to take PF's and can upgrade to combi weapons really cheap giving the unit a huge punch at the right time.

Cheap is still relative.. bare bones WG Termies are still only 7 points cheaper than the 'Nilla guys..Ironhide wrote:I prefer my cheap Wolf Guard Termies!

Re: TERMINATORS???
I'm interested to hear the answer to that. I remember with shivers the 2nd edition one with the librarian also attached, squad numbering 20 men and 1/4 with assault cannons and 1/4 with cyclones. Want to know if the new one is as scary.

It's brutal... Those 7 points really add up. Someone said to me that chaos terminators can be cheaper, but they suck.porkuslime wrote:Cheap is still relative.. bare bones WG Termies are still only 7 points cheaper than the 'Nilla guys..Ironhide wrote:I prefer my cheap Wolf Guard Termies!

You can't ignore 20 terminators walking at you, and they're scoring... Add drop pods and long fangs and it's a scary list to fight.
Always ship with delivery confirmation, I do the same.
