Is this 40k>Hordes trade a good deal for me?

Post by Darkzephyr »

Hey Everyone.

I'm new to these forums, but I've heard this a great place to make trades. While this trade isn't occuring on Bartertown, I was hoping some people here might be well-educated in the values of both game armies.

I also don't know what forums I should post this in or where I would get the best response, so please inform me if there is a better place to post this.

ANyways, here is the trade

My
AOBR Ork set.(1x Warboss, 20x Boyz, 5x Nobz, 3x Deffkoptas.)
+5 AOBR Nobz
1x Trukk
So far, I believe I have $65-$70 worth of Orks
I'm also considering trading
Burna Boyz
Various other Bitz from the Battlewagon kit, and possibley a huge bag of WFB Orc Bitz, mostly arms/weapons.

He gave me the option of picking 1x Warlock, 1x Heavy WB and 2x Light Warbeast from the following list.

warlocks
e kruger 12
baldor 8

light war beast
2x argus 9
gorax 13
woldwatcher 13

heavy war beast

woldwarden 20
gnarl horn 30

I'm not sure what the exact values are on these, but using the values that he gave me, I would probably choose the following...

E. Krueger
Gorax
Worldwatcher
GnarlHorn.

I also would like any advice about which units work the best synergy wise. I've only played the game once, so I'm not sure what the restrictions are on Army building. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. I also

Whether or not it's a good deal, really, depends on what the items are wirth TO YOU.
Would you rather have the Hordes models you mentioned than the 40K ones? if so, then yes. It's a good deal.

Now, if you want to know if it's a good deal regarding evenness of value... compare the retail falues of each and that'll tell you.
For the Orks, I'd value the AoBR stuff at half retail for the AoBR boxed set -$10 (whatever that comes to).

Lower rating? You ship first.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

You want a Woldwarden - those are AWESOME SAUCE, period. Argus leave a lot to be desired - that's the bottom line. I had four of them when I was playing Circle heavily and never used them. So, from the list he gave you, I would go w/Bauldur for the warlock (only because I know Bauldur well, I never played with eKruger, but I LOVE pKruger!), Woldwarden, Woldwatcher, and the Gorax. Gorax is "ok" but a much better choice than the Argus.

Now... if you're making your choice off of how the models look and what you like, then by all means, pick what you like because I support that style of play 100%!

You can buy warpacks for $50, which is a warlock, a heavy, and 2 lights. Give or take, this is pretty much what's in a battlebox (war machine: caster, heavy jack, 2 light jacks) or a warpack (hordes).

Now this fella is giving you a choice of heavy & light beasts and two decent casters that are NOT in warpacks, so that should make their value go up a bit. The circle warpack leaves a lot to be desired IMHO. It's a TON of fun, but not that great to learn on, but YMMV.

If I really wanted to get into PP Hordes, then I'd make the trade. I don't think you're getting screwed if that's what you want to know.

The argus got buffed in the Fieldtest. Its pretty useful now.

Well that's awesome because it's a sweet sculpt, and deserves to be more than something for the wolfmen to throw LOL.
