What I don't get is why non-profit Btown supports for-profit feeBay at all.
If Btown doesn't get a kickback for the auction referrals, why can't all auctions be removed from Btown entirely?
It's not like eBay needs Btown, nor that their search is flawed.
Can someone explain this to me?
Why does Btown support eBay?

We don't support eBay. The auction forums is for any auction site, not just eBay. eBay just happens to be the biggest auction site out there. We don't get kickbacks from google, but we still have their ads on our banner.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

Re: Why does Btown support eBay?
I thought the auction sections were to appease those members here who use eBay. It's not for eBay's sake, but for the members who like to use eBay. If you don't like the auction section, just don't go there. Let the folks who use it... um use it.
I don't usually use the auctions section, but I will use it on occasion just to clean stuff out. And it doesn't hurt to let my usual trade partners know that I have stuff up on eBay. I know of another PAYING advertiser who likes using eBay (actualy two). It doesn't hurt anybody.

Karl, you hit the nail on the head.
We don't support Feebay. We support the members who want to use Feebay.
Personally, I'd like to see some sort of outreach by our member-base to www.games2trains.com. Gearhead utilizes them EXTENSIVELY, but not many others do.
Also, IH... it's not much, but we (the site) do get money from google for having google ads on here.

No beef per se, just wondering why we're driving traffic away.

As we don't have an auction service of our own, I don't see how we're driving it away.JohnHwangBT wrote:No beef per se, just wondering why we're driving traffic away.

Btown does sales, which is essentially what eBay does now.

Geesh...
I'm ALWAYS hitting nails on the head! You would think I was a mad carpenter...
Prolly.
John, I don't think it drives any sales away from Bartertown. Because there are no auction features here, it just is nice to allow members to use those boards for links to their goodies. I rarely even look at auction links here. And if anything, I use eBay mostly for price/value checking.
