Possibly selling my tomb kings

Post by Necros »

I'm thinking about selling my Tomb Kings. I have over 3000 pts worth. There's pics of the models on my site here. I guess before I actually list them for sale I'm wondering what some of you might think they are worth? I don't want to give them away dirt cheap as I put a great deal of time into the army. The whole army consists of:

25 skeletons w/ hand weapons w/ full command + an extra musician & standard
20 skeletons w/ bows
23 tomb guard w/ full command + an additional full command
8 horses w/ spear & shield
4 chariots
2 screaming skull catapults
3 usabti
4 swarms
1 priest on a horse
2 priests on foot
1 casket of souls (priest on a base so he can be a priest on foot if you like)
1 TK/prince on chariot
2 tk/prince on foot
1 Settra the imperishable (on a base so he can be a TK on foot if you like)

And I think that's about it, give or take a few skeletons here and there.

Anyone have any idea what it's worth? I'd also be including a couple of army transport trays that I store some of the bigger models in.

How much are they worth? That is only a number you can decide on. You can purchase new for 20% discount. The models are used. Some only pay 50% retail.

Total up the cost of your army. Then pick a number you are comfortable with. If the number is too high and you don't get any offers then you can always lower it.

If it were me, I would start somewhere between 35-40% off retail. Maybe a little more.

the best way to figure prices is to check ebay. especially if they're painted.

i bought and mostly sold all my TK there.

OK thanks. I guess I'll go with around MSRP and hope for the best. I'm also wondering if I should sell it as a whole army or break it up and sell it as units. I think generally you can make more if it's all separate but I figure since it is all the same army maybe someone would want everything to match

They'll go faster if you break it up. Should get more value that way also.

Looking at your stuff, I think MSRP is a great place to start. They look nice, and I wouldn't be sirprised to see some of them go for quite a bit more.

I also agree that unit by unit is the best way to go... but, with any that you have multiple copies of the same unit, doing them as a group might do well.

Definitely not all as one group, though.

Well I figured out the retail for everything is around $625.

So here's another question. Selling the whole army or single units, will I get better results just listing it here, or on ebay? So far I've sold 2 units from other armies here and had good results, but is this more a bitz trading kind of board in general? If I list it here, I guess I'll also do better selling single units? but I don't want to make 27 separate posts for each unit and clutter up the board.

Or should I do it like 1 big post and list everything with some pics for each unit and just name a price maybe slightly more than retail for each one?

Bartertown is a GAME trading board. We handle far more than bits.

My suggestion would be to create a nice long post with details and images for EVERY unit you have. List a price that you will sell for. Do NOT use "Make an offer." That will get you less hits "of value."
If your BEST price on a unit is "x," then ask for "x+$5 or $10." Be willing to haggle a little, and leave room for it in your asking price. Put right in your ad that you'll offer better deals to anyone buying more than "[enter number here]" units.

Run that ad for a week or two, then put what's left on Feebay.

You won't pay any fees here, generating MORE money for you, and you could potentially move everything in ONE day. Just be careful. You can really screw things up by trying to handle that many trades at once.
Keep meticulous notes, TRIPLE check everything (models, receiver address, etc) before and after packaging, and only pack ONE trade/box at a time.

I HIGHLY recommend using something like Excel to track your trades. It really helps me out when I put a lot of stuff up for trade.
