about posting a BTR

Post by arthur »

Hello,
I'm getting ready to post BTR -- it's been over 48 hrs since the items I sent were delivered and there's no reponse. I've been on the site periodically and I know the recipient is online and has been repeatedly in that time, posting to other threads, but has ignored all my messages (previously before I sent the items he would respond within minutes of me sending a message).

I have a question about the details.

So it says to post the entire PM history and and tracking information, etc. Does that mean also including their name and address for all to see?

thanks.

OK, I got a question that you need to answer:

- Prior to shipment, did you both agree that he would send his half within 48 hours of delivery?

If so, then you can notify him that he isn't following your agreement, and that he needs to confirm receipt and provide tracking number / proof of shipment. I might suggest something along these lines:
Hi! According to usps.com, your minis were delivered on Saturday at 3:17pm. Based on your lack of a reply, I'm assuming that they were complete and in good condition. Per our agreement, you said that you would ship within 48 hours of receipt, but that didn't happen. I was wondering when you would ship and provide the tracking number for the shipment. I know stuff comes up, but if you could get back to me by Friday, that would be much appreciated - I'd hate to have to open a BTR here. Thanks!
If not, maybe you oughta cut the guy a little slack?

Let him know that you were hoping that he would have shipped, and request a timeline for shipping, etc.

Thanks for the reply.

To be clear, I wasn't expecting him to send his part of the trade within 48hrs (that would be unreasonable), I'm just trying to get a message response from him.

The thing is, he's been on the site (when I check the site periodically I see he's online, and his posting history shows that he's active) a lot in the last 48 hrs.

What do you mean by "he is ignoring"? He's read them, but not sent a response?

No problem.

FWIW, I typically ship within 48 hours of receipt, against a 2 Business Day timeline commitment, so 48 hours (stopping for weekends & holidays) isn't unreasonable. ;)

But yeah, he owes you a reply / acknowledgement within 48 hours of receipt - that isn't unreasonable to expect.

At this point, it's probably TOO soon for a BTR.
Is he reading your PM's? Look in your "outbox." Are they there?

If they moved from your OUTbox to your SENT MESSAGES, then he's reading them.
That is SERIOUSLY poor trading etiquette.

What is his rating?

If he's reading them, send him one more. Advise him that he has 24 hours to respond to your PM, or you will have no choice but to assume he's scamming you and react accordingly.

In the mean time, PM me the guy's Username, real name and address.

Thanks.

Just so you guys know. I believe (as it reads) the POSTER sent stuff to this guy and through Deliv. Conf. I presume, the POSTER knows the items were delivered???

So that means the guy has received these "items" and has been on the site online and (barring response from poster in regards to MM's post) read the POSTER's PMs asking the buyer(?) if he's received (even though Poster knows buyer(?) received) what poster sent.

I read 3 posts that didn't seem to be on par with the question. Or perhaps I am misinterpreting the original posters question and or the replies.

Your initial assessment is correct.
OP sent items to receiver.
Receiver received them 48 hours ago.
OP is asking about posting a BTR.

All responses to him have been valid.

JH wants to know what the terms of their shipping agreement were. If the receiver said he'd ship the day after the items were received, or something similar, JH (if I hit my mark) is going to say to BTR the guy (and, possibly, to string him up by his innards). As it sits, see JH's response to the OP's follow up.

Ironhide wants to know if the guy is opening and reading the PM's. Not opening a PM really is different than reading and ignoring it. If the guy's not reading them, it could mean he doesn't even know they're not there. Not everyone cleansout their inbox. Once you have 600 stored in there, all new PMs go into a secondary folder. If you're unaware of this, you don't know you're getting them.
If the receiver's reading the PM's, this can't be used as a defense... however trivial a defense it might be.

Don't know what the 3rd unrelated post might've been, unless yo're referring to JH's second one... which is sensible for this thread.
