Re: Whats up with the Rudeness
I am pretty sure that is obvious JH... All he is saying is that they don't HAVE to be rude prics either. Be polite.
I am sure we all want more new members to trade with but is you have to put up with idiocy to get a trade done, why bother.
I can afford to go out and buy a new army, as I am sure as most of us more mature traders. We trade for the fun of it, maybe to get a deal and save a buck or two, or to find a model that you cant get anymore. If you have to go through hell to save $5 on a landraider it isn't worth my time or my good mood, as I am guessing what DS is getting at.
Answers like "Nothing forces you to accept there demands..." in my books is EXACTLY what polite members are complaining about.

Re: Whats up with the Rudeness
Well folks looks like after 10 years I have my first negative trade reference! All over a postal snafu .. And the person treating me like I was going to rip him off. He tells me to send him the models or his money back. So I cancel the trade send him his cash back and revive my first negative do I deserve it? Yea probably so. But guess what to quote a old saying " I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more "
I'm thru with asses if this is how it has to be then so be it!

Its accurate enough.. of course it doesn't tell you the whole story.. Like i said i deserved it... i did something out of anger... that i wouldn't normally have done...
as far as the other one.. i PM'd Lin/Adam about it when it happened.. i figure it will get take care of when it does.. if you can fix it MM that would be great.

Re: Whats up with the Rudeness
Okay. It's deleted. You won't see the "10" return to your score yet, though. It'll recalculate after you receive your next reference. So, presuming your next ref is a positive, you'll see your score jump by 12. It's a glitch in this new functionality that Adam has to fix, but he's leaving it as "good enough" for now, as we have some HIGH priority things that have to be done first.DarkSoul wrote:Its accurate enough.. of course it doesn't tell you the whole story.. NOTE: In case someone's reading this and NOT paying attention...
I did NOT remove the reference he admits was deserved. I deleted an OLD reference that had positive wording in it and was OBVIOUSLY supposed to be a positive (any staff member can confirm this if needed).

Re: Whats up with the Rudeness
Keep in mind guys that we're seeing the advent of the first TEXTING generation - Young adults who have never known life without the internet, without cell phones, without texting, without DVD. These are kids who are learning to speak 160 characters at a time. They abbreviate, use the incorrect version of a word to save spaces, ignore punctuation and misspell to shorten what they have to say in a semi-readable format. A friend of mine told me about an employment application she received a few weeks back that was written entirely in text speak, and when asked about it the person said "What? It's not like you can't read it." Wuld u like 2 wrk here? 2 Bad. Lrn2wrt + c me wn u grw up.
I've been experiencing a LOT of rudeness at my various online gigs from this. Kids literally think extreme brevity, bluntness and lack of punctuation is acceptable and will not for a moment consider that others might find their behavior rude. They've also grown up in a world where it is totally okay to call someone a rude invective and then never speak to them again - because, hey, it's not like the other person can do something about it....or ever has.
I postulate that unless there's some sort of online upheaval towards politeness, this trend will continue. When many of us first got online, it was a place for the educated and only the educated...you HAD to be just to figure out how t get on. Every day we get further and further from that truth. In a world where asking takes up too much space, demanding becomes the new asking. keep in mind that a lot of these kids don't realize that online there IS a difference.
Just so food for thought - not in any way a defense of most of these clowns.

Re: Whats up with the Rudeness
To tell the truth I haven't had much luck with trades recently either.
I don't like being pushed, either to hurry up, or to be forced into something.
I would have reacted the same way with the ultimatum (models or money)
Then again, if he gave you the choice, models or money and was curt about it, you were only following instructions.
I would have told him where he can stick it and sent the money back
ESPECIALLY if I had a rep like yours, I'm proud my my little rep I built up, and Yes I do like to flex it, especially in the faces of the "I have a bazziollion trades on ebay" people
Remember, business and trade have always been polite (unless you had a gun pointed at your head)
Reputation for being a fair trader has gone along ways in the history of trade.

I remember a time when someone used a "rude invective" against someone else and the target would proceed to try and beat the snot out of them with a "oh, boys will be boys" attitude from the adults. To bad the world went all squishyMassawyrm wrote:They've also grown up in a world where it is totally okay to call someone a rude invective and then never speak to them again - because, hey, it's not like the other person can do something about it....or ever has.
