@OP

Stick around. We're going to be expanding our "discussion" forums soon.

As for popsicle sticks... they'll work, but I'm still partial to the thin balsa wood, as it'll conform to the shape you want better.

I would go with the foam, it might be easier to shape and work with than a plastic boat.

Yeah, foam core and then use balsa or pop sticks to make it look more real. Also, soaking pop-sticks in water will make them more bendy and shapeable.

Another possibility is thin styrene. You can sand it with a coarse sandpaper to give a quasi-woodgrain effect.
By trading with me you agree that all signature based trade rules are not in force. If it isn't in the PM thread then it doesn't apply.

Hey... Good suggestion... and they make some REALLY REALLY thin stuff that'll bend easily, too.

Might not be the most inexpensive option, but a good one.
I suggest getting the narrow strips, though, to simulate planks, rather than full sheets.

Well, I should be all set for this project! I'm thinking of going with a pink foam base and then adding the balsa wood around it. I'll definitely have to post pictures up here when i finally get to this project, but it's going to be delayed at least until the week of the 20th -- April vacation...I love working in a school! Thanks again, guys, and I'll keep you posted.

I do like the theme concept, so here's my two dracmas: lincoln logs. Bear in mind this would be a bog boat built by skeletons, zombies and magic. Think undead Tom Sawyer. Mostly I have trouble imagining the VCs coming up with anything more advanced that a raft.
