What to do about BT advertising store that doesnt send items

Apparently, accordoing to the OP, the store is doing what it needs to do, so it's not unfair:

Magically after posting here a tracking number was provided.

I still don't think the posts should be buried.

I do think that the store in question should probably get a Neutral...

And thinking about it, it's too bad a BTR wasn't opened, as then you could simply link from here to the BTR and all of the other advertisers would be unaffected.

The store in question might not have an actual User name here. It isn't a requirement.

If they do, however, and the OP finds a neutral to be appropriate, I don't think that is too drastic.

As for the BTR, it looks as if the OP WOULD have been well within the guidelines for creating one, prior to the advertiser "making good" on the transaction.

If you FIND them on BTown, and CAN PROVE IT (like, your first email says, "Hey. I saw your banner on Bartertown, and..."), then you're good to go.

...of course, even if the guy HAS ripped you off, but can prove you LIED about finding him here in your BTR, you'll get booted, too. [[Just so nobody thinks there's an easy way to scam that prerequisite]]

Before moving this post, could we get some info put up about how to conduct a transaction with an advertiser in the rules or something. Let everybody know what is needed to show proof that the transaction started on here. I did not know that this was needed and I have been lurking around here for awhile.

The proof required with an advertiser is no different than that required for anyone else.

We don't give them more lenient terms, or require you to "prove it more." if it's sufficient for the average trader, it's sufficient for an Advertiser.

I have clicked on an advertisers link and been taken to thier website and then used thier shoping cart to buy stuff. No emails or anything. I thought that I would be able to leave a BTR if things went south. So you are saying that from now on, I must contact them through email or PM first (with info about seeing them on Bartertown) before ordering anything, either over the phone or on a website, to be able to leave them a BTR. Thanks for the clarification.

Just to clear the air I don't feel at all like I cast a bad feeling on our stores/users on the site. I just posted a question in the Have Questions? forum. As BT makes money off advertising (and darn right they should) I wanted to know if there was a way to make a issue known. Now as it stands after 3 weeks and the last one calling everyday I finally got a tracking number.

If it needs deleted or "buried" please feel free mods. Thanks for all the feedback guys

Now, I know I'm just talking about how *I* do things (and always have), but was there any sort of *notes* field? I always mention something there, if I want to let them know someone referred me or something like that. That would be a good place to put "I saw your ad on Bartertown." It helps YOU in case it should be a backout/BTR issue and lets them know their advertising dollars are well spent.

That being said... Different businesses run ther stuff different ways.
If all you has was a shopping cart and some clickable links available to you (which is how it sounds), and had no way to PROVE that you saw them here, I presume we'd introduce a litle logic into the puzzle.

1) Were you a user prior to or starting on the date you placed your order?
2) Were they an advertiser prior to or starting on the date you placed your order?

If both point to yes, then I can only presume we'd give you the benefit of the doubt and allow the BTR. In this case, an absence of proof is not due to your own poor planning, but due to the inability to HAVE said proof. Know what I mean? We can't fault YOU for something you had no control over. Personally, I'd be in favor of allowing it to stand... ESPECIALLY considering your own excellent track record here.

So, I hope this describes my opinion on the situation clearly. LMK if you need clarification on anything.

Thanks MM. That was exactly the info I was looking for. I just want to say that I have had dealings with several of the advertisers here and all went well(except for 1 minor issue and it got worked out). It is just nice to know the proper way to handle things if a problem ever comes up.

*I* haven't changed at all.

I believe that the Advertisers should be protected, but only so far as they deserve it. : ) I believe our members deserve JUST AS MUCH protection.
I'm glad the more detailed explanation was able to help make my thoughts clearer on the subject.

For ANYONE reading this... If you EVER have a trade problem on the site, whether it is with another trader or an advertiser, and you aren't certain what your next steps should be... PLEASE, post a message or PM a Staff person.
You can PM ANYONE of us. We'll be happy to provide advice. If we're unsure, we'll ask someone "above us" in the responsibility chain. That's one of the reasons we're here. Heck! The willingness to do that in the first place is what got some of us our spots as Staff in the first place. : )
