looking for good models of animals

Post by vesrian »

Anyone know of any model ranges that include animals?
I'm making a WHFB unit that includes a bunch of assorted animals but i haven't been able to find any models that work. I'm mostly looking for animals from forests or plains (wolfs, hunting dogs, smallish bear, badger, birds of prey, squirrels, etc...) And i need them to match GW scale and fit on 20mm square bases. Everything i've found in my local store is either too small (most D&D type familar packs) or too large (e.g. GW wolves).
Giant rats don't work as i don't want it looking like a skaven army.

I believe Reaper has several different blisters of woodland animals. Can't remember, but I think it was the Warlord series.

The Miniature Market (http://www.miniaturemarket.com) is a local store... Well, not so local to me, as I'm 35 miles south of St. Louis... but it's in St. Louis... I've been there numerous times...

On their web site, I seem to recall seeing Mega Miniatures in their "clearance" section. PLENTY of animals.

I do endorse them, too. Stable shop (they just hosted a 30 man 40K tourney... Big store. Lots of room).

Thanks for the info, that definitely helps. I looked through a bunch of Reaper models at my local store, but i didn't see any woodland animals. I guess i'll check online for them.

Mega Minatures might be the best choice. I'd never heard of them before, but they do have a bunch of animals. Not sure i like how they look though. And it's really hard to tell if they'll fit in with my WHFB stuff. The site MM linked to says they're about 15mm scale but the ebay link says 25mm. Anyone know which it is??

I'd email the store for details.
I don't think Mega Miniatures even made anything smaller than 25mm. It might be a typo.

If 25mm, they might be a bit small for WHFB... but you aren't going to find anything GREAT.

They are NOT the best looking models in the world... but you may have to sacrifice that to get what you want.
