Using 'Check References'

Post by BrooklynMike »

Please let me know if I am missing something: the 'Check References' screen searches by 4 keys: email, last name, country, state. The first two are the most important, but they are very likely not available, or at least in the transactions I've done I don't get an email or last name until paypal-time. If I want to check earlier I have to ask. Is there a way to search by user name? This is the one piece of information we always have from the first contact.

Thanks,
Mike

Not really.

It used to be that Btown e-mail had the reference link so you could just click that to see the references of whomever e-mailed you...

I feel your pain Mike.

The easiest way I know is to click their username, and then click for a list of their posts./ Once you find their name in the thread, you can click their FB# for their refs. You probably knew that, but just in case.

This link will check references by userid (example is me):

ref_view.php?user_id=11976

If you move your mouse over a user's name anywhere on the site you'll see a link that looks like this (example is Flaggo7:

memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=7535

The end of this link is the user's id (7535). Put them together and you get:

ref_view.php?user_id=7535

Voila - Flagg's references. It's not pretty but it works.

Now, who wants to write a Bartertown Firefox extension that adds a "check references" option when you right click on a bartertown user link? ;)

In the meantime, if you add ref_view.php?user_id= to your favorites, when the page loads, all you have to do is append the user id and load the page again.

Actually, just click on his link and there is a field you can use to search by username.

The link at the top of the page to check references needs to be changed from itl_view.php to this ref_view.php

If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my underwear!

Buy, sell or trade....it's all the same to me. Lower refs pays/ships first!

Tyrants can not be stopped by earnest words and furrowed brows. Action, strong bold action coming from a position of strength and determination, is the only effective deterrent.

All: Thanks for the ideas, I've set up a favorite as suggested above. Works well enough for me.
