Buying Forge World Quick

Post by titan136 »

Hey all,

Does anyone know of a US retailer that usually has a bunch of Forge World stuff in stock?

I'm looking to get 1 nurgle deathguard upgrade kit and terminator kit as well as 1 deathguard rhino kit.

I know that thewarstore.com used to carry some forgeworld, but they appear to have stopped.

I am looking to get these in a hurry, anyone have any ideas?

I've wondered this myself evey time I had to wait for an order to arrive...
Can you contact one of the GW Battlebunkers directly? I think they carry FW.

I've used Bits and Kits UK pretty regularly this year. They carry FW in bits and as of right now, they've got what you're looking for. The advantage is they ship quickly (free over $30) and you get exactly the FW bits you want. I'm not sure how the pricing goes though, so it may turn out to be cost prohibitive. Probably worth your time to check it out.

Well, the old Apocalypse backup is overwith. I bought The Nuglenators and Plague Marine Conversion kits and had them inside of a week (with the express shipping.) The Sorcerer was back ordered and came separately about 2 and 1/2 weeks after I ordered it. So ordering from FW directly isn't the mess it was for a while - and with the British pound crashing against the dollar right now, there's effectively a 15% off sale going on at FW. :-D

If you order from US stores, be careful to check how much they're charging you. If a 100 pound item is costing you $200, it's costing you an extra $30.

And if you call Forgeworld rather than place the order online they can tell you what's in stock and what's not.

Also, Forgeworld shipping is beastly so I recommend to ANYONE making a Forgeworld order to go in with someone or just wait until you yourself have 250 worth of stuff to order to get the free shipping. It saves the equivalent of like $70+ dollars in shipping charges.

Agreed on the shipping. Calling them is almost a waste of time. With the Long distance charges for every call... You're essentially paying for a busy signal (because they are -seeminly- ALWAYS on the phone taking calls).

Eric
Lower rating? You ship first.

I was under the impression (at least the way it reads on their site) that you get free EXPRESS shipping - that they eat the 15 pound express upgrade to shipping - saving you like $23. It is my understanding that you still have to pay the 15% shipping surcharge.

Incorrect. Over 250 shipping is 100% free AND express. I know from experience.

It depends when you call. I find if I call them at the start of their business day I can usually get through easily. Later in the day though..yes, good luck. It's because they have like two guys to handle all their phone calls. Even though they do well they refuse to hire more staff.

Yea, but the stupid thing about Forgeworld is they refuse to take the VAT tax off their international orders even though GW UK will do it. (Heck, the new GW UK shopping cart does it automatically!) Taking off the VAT lowers the price of orders from GW UK by 17.5% !! But even though Forgeworld is a subsidiary of GW they refuse to do the same thing. So even though you're from a different country you wind up paying the taxes that a UK citizen has to pay. Then, if your order is large, you wind up paying import taxes as well.

That's a lot of tax.

If you have a reciept with the VAT tax on it you can apply to get the VAT tax back from the UK government. PM me and I'll try to find a link, or you can search online for VAT refund. almost 20% is a big difference and being stationed in the UK I tend to take advantage of getting VAT back.

I thought you could only get a refund if you were visiting the country and bought something during the visit? If you can provide info on how to go about this for people living abroad it would be greatly appreciated.
