Best Miniature Carrying Case?
With the imminent completion of my first 1.5K point Ork army by next month, I'm looking to buy a carrying case for all my stuff. 40K vehicle boxes stuffed with foam have served me wll for 10+ years but I think it's about time I put some money towards a nice case to protect what's turning out to be my favorite army.
So far, I've been looking at the Reaper Miniature Case (which is cheap and it's Reaper which are always good)
http://www.reapermini.com/pdf/RM_case.pdf
or the basic Sabol ArmyTransport (which is more expensive but seems nicer and more versatile)
http://www.saboldesigns.net/armytransport.html
But I can't decide....
So can someone tell me what they use and direct me somewhere online that sells these at a discount....?
Thanks

While I am a huge fan of most things Reaper I'd stay away from their transport case. The foam they use for the trays in my opinion are sub par. They have a tendency to break away from the bottom causing you to have to re glue them together or worse your models as they fall from the tray separating. I's stick with the Sabol ArmyTransport .

Magnets Everywhere
Magnatize(sp?) everything and stick it in a storage bin with metal on the bottom. Several players in our group have their entire army done that way. Your sneaky gitz will fit nicely next to the Ork Boss and battlewagon.

I've seen both of these in action, and I'd go with the Sabol. Check out thewarstore.com for good prices.

I gotta jump on the Sabol wagon. I have had a number of their cases over the last few years and they have all served me well.

I like the foam in Sabol's Army Transport cases but the cases themselves leave much to be desired. I've had two, a standard and a Battalion. The standard ripped as it's really just heavy vinyl and the Battalion is top-heavy due to a poor design of the luggage-like wheels and "feet" (they're both too close together and tiny)...
Sadly, you missed out on this year's Bolter and Chainsword custom bag order. The bags are made by a professional company that provides for schools, sports teams, the military, etc. The bags are made from heavy nylon and are vastly superior to Sabol's AT bags but are designed to fit their foam trays. You should go and look at the B&C site just to check them out. I have three and just ordered a fourth...

Huh. I've had mine for four or five years now, and haven't had a problem. Still, I was wondering about the battalion case.Jeramakus wrote:I like the foam in Sabol's Army Transport cases but the cases themselves leave much to be desired. I'm a fan of the Sabol Cases also, but I saw a guy who transports his using magnets and an old metal tool box. Found a site that tells you about it.

I definitely think the Sabol case is worth the extra dollars. The foam trays are a little more durable, it is uber customizeable, and the case shell, though soft, has taken a lot of abrasive and bludgeoning mistreatment from me since I got it 4 years ago.

I've got three standard Sabol cases, the top loaders, and I think that the new Mk2 is a really smart design move on their part. I also just picked up Sabol's motor pool transport, and last night I pulled foam for 12 tanks. I've still got an untouched tray in it too.
Its a little pricey but in the end Sabol cases are totally worth it.
