That rumor sounds like rubbish to me.

I won't believe it until I see it.

Anyone who thinks GW loses money on any of their items is crazy.

Sure, as a company they're losing $$. That, however, has to do with their management and NOT the profit margins on ANY of their products.

....except, possibly, LOTR. I don't know how well it does on the profitability per item scale.

Eric
HAHA LotR Yeah they loose so much on that system. Good of them to *edit* with our WD issues and put huge *edit* spreads in there. I DONT WANT 30 PAGES ON THE FORCES OF EVIL IN MORDOR!!! Put in more converting and terrain stuff for 40k and fantasy like they used to have.

Anyway yeah I think that the above rumor is crap too. But I figured I'd throw it out there.

Agree. GW makes money on most of their product lines.

Also agree that GW's overhead is excessive. Particularly their Executive salaries and stock options.

LotR definitely makes money for GW. It's just that LotR doesn't play with 40k or WFB. It's a totally separate market with almost no crossover.

I found this picture on the internet. It purposes to show the bottom of the "Battle for Black Reach" box.

It looks like the rumors about which figures are in the box are slowly coming true (much to my shock). Also in the picture, it looks like a mini-rulebook in the same vein as the Battle for McCragge.
Erik, maybe this will help your decision making. I might wait to see how much this bad boy costs before I buy the big book...

There was a posting somewhere about the next issue of WD. The next issue will have highlights about 5th. A few more tastyl tidbits about what is going to happen. In addition there will be one of two models in the issue. Either a SM Termi. Or one of the Ork Boys. For those of Us who have a subscription, both will be in the magazine. They want to show off the new "plastic" model molds they have developed (the ones that make a plastic Baneblade possible.)

In addtion, There are rumors of the following being made into plastic kits for 5th. SM/CSM Drop pods, and (not sure about this one) A plastic Valkyrie kit, which is rumored to be useable as a Stormtrooper transport. The catch is in normal 40k games it will count as a skimmer the same was a Falcon currently does.
For every battle honor, a thousand heroes die alone, unsung and unremembered.
