OK. I have a trade pending with a user here that has had 0 communication or online activity here since our trade was agreed to around May 6th.
I have sent the user a PM today canceling the trade due to him never shipping and the stop of communication, but my question is, do I need to post a Backout post to be free of that obligation. I have other interested parties in the same models that were on hold for this trade and would like to now entertain those offers.
Please tell me the direction I should take. I have all PM and emails saved in case I need to post them, but as the user has a higher rating(40+) I am somewhat hesitant to call him a bad trader as I think life just got in the way and he is really bad at communicating that.
Thanks
-john.

No.
You absolutely do not have to.
Heck, if you got scammed, you wouldn't be required to post a BTR, even.
The backout folder is primarily for 2 reasons:
1) Suspicious back outs
2) To support a neg or neutral ref you left the trader in question (even then, it's not required).
In both cases, it's to protect you and/or future possible trade partners of the reported trader.
If you think it's just a matter of life interfering (and at 40+, I'm prone to agree), the PM you sent him is enough.
Hope this helps.

Lower rating? You ship first.
Give me a sense of humor Lord. Give me the grace to see a joke.
To get some humor out of life and pass it on to other folk.
I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Want my help with a BTR or backout? All messages sent/posted should be in CHRONOLOGICAL order. Otherwise, I just won't read it.
