Negative Feedback Removal Timeline

Post by kbolster12345 »

Many months ago I was negative feedback that was retalitory. I was told it would be removed but its been a while since then. I have sent a couple of PM's to Admins but have not recieved an answer or even any comment. Here is a link to the BTR I filed out if anyone want to take the time to read it...
http://www.bartertown.com/trading/view ... hp?t=59978

How long is reasonable to wait? Actually it's not even that I care that it happens right now I just want to make sure it happens. The lack of responses to my PM's concerns me.
If I don't get what I think I am getting you will be sending me money for me to ship it back to you. So be very certain I know what I am getting.

Also more of what I don't want doesn't make up for not getting what I agreed upon.

Either will result in negative feedback, posting of our records in the appropriate section of bartertown, and possible mailfruad. Otherwise don't trade with me.

Wish I could help, but I think there's only 1, maybe two admin that can even do what you're asking. :(

Sorry I can't be more help.

Hell, *I* even have a hard time getting a hold of the admin sometimes. :P

Wow i remember you getting that Neg feedback, that was a good time ago,i've been trying to get ahold of admin for some time on a tech problem i've got....i've emailed and pm'ed, the PM's are still in my sent box unread,I understand they have ALOT to do,but maybe if other admins even have a hard time getting hold of them they ned to share the workload around abit more.
I was Happy that MM became a Watchman, but i personally think he should be an admin myself.

Cheers

I would second that.

Well, there area a couple things to keep in mind here.
While I don't know about Morlock's skills (aside from his sween nunchuk skills, computer hacking skills... LOL), I believe that Lin & Adam bear a large part of the Admin load (No disrespect, Morlock... it's just my take, based on what I know). Now, what to keep in mind about those two people is important... Adam started Bartertown as a college project, as I understand it, and that dang thing just snowballed. I'd imagine he'll tell you that he never expected it to get this big or last this long. His main contributions to the site are behind the scenes. He's the computer geek behind the curtain...
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!!!"
LOL No. I'm not saying to ignore him... but pretend he doesn't exist. Everything needs to go through Lin. Adam doesn't get to spend much time (busy life) messing with BTown and, as I understand it, that time is spent coding and working on updates to the infrastructure, basically.

Which, of course, leads to the next problem. Since moving to Where-the-heck-did-I-get-myself-shipped-off-to-ville, Lin's Internet connection has been occasional, at best. He just doesn't have the ability to get around much lately. Some have speculated that the recent spat of Earthquakes are actually the reverberating effects of his withdrawal convulsions.

This leaves Morlock.
Most people don't typically think of going to him with issues as, in the past, Lin has been the one to take the reins.
If you're having issues and need to speak to an admin about resolution, you need to speak with him. If it's not something he knows about, I'd imagine he could get your answer.

Keep in mind, folks, that reversing negative ref's is not high on the priority list. It will get done, but it WILL take time.

I feel your pain!
[/best Bill Clinton voice]

I had someone my ref's spammed by a retaliatory Neg about 5 or 6 times, as I recall (Look up Adam Swank if you care why he did it). It was well over 6 months before they finally got fixed.
It WILL happen for you... eventually.

WTF?
See, first I smiled, because I thought you were trying to flatter me... When I saw the "but" there, I started to expect a playful "zinger."
This, though:
i personally think he should be an admin myself
:!: Are you on drugs? :!:
:!: Maybe you're trying to drive me frigging crazy? :!:
:!: WTF is your problem? :!:
:!: What did I ever do to you? :!:

LOL

Seriously, though... Though I think you might mean "Moderator," I disagree. I don't think I have the temperment for it. I say what I think too much, and that leads to.. err... disagreements too often. Plus, as I understand it, all of the Mod (and higher) staff have a certain degree of computer-fu... to a degree that I lack.

I appreciate the sentiment, but respectfully disagree. Being a Watchman is ALMOST the limit of responsibility I can (want to?) handle right now.
Not to mention the added hassle of all you "regular" people beating down my door every time there's a problem. ;)

Ok let me try to answer all of these
1,Yes i am...Doctor approved Of course
2, No
3, Well alot really, it all started when i was a child, but to cut a long story short see 1
4, I can think of a link i fell for waaaaaaaaaaay too many times

Anyways
I never thought of Morlock,i'll have to give him ago.
and i did consider if you actually wanted to be a Mod(not admin, sorry about that)but decided i really didn't care about what you wanted....see answer 1

But sillyness aside,i do think that it would be a good idea to Share the duties around alittle bit with people who
A, Have the skill
B, Want to do it
C, Are not on a power trip
E, Did not vote for GWB in 04

There are what 10,000 or 11,000 users on here 2 or 3 Admins is spreading it alittle thin, hell my local site has about 110 members and about 3 admins.

well thats my A,don't have the skill,B don't wanna do it,C AM on a power trip E,Didn't vote for GWB, opinion

The last time I recall a Mod being added was insidius... that was a while ago, too.
Maybe a mod or 2 more could be helpful. Especially if they're on as often as some of us who visit regularly.

Personally, I only qualify for C & E above (I noticed the absence of "D." Is that part of the childhood trauma?). there was a time then "B" would have been me but too many people already think "C" of me... No reason to give 'em ammo. LOL
Plus, I'm a bit too firebrand at times. I'd need to cool down first... and I don't see that coming. LOL

Thirteen thousand and rising (13,152 as of this post). I'd imagine the active portion of that to be around a quarter of it's total, at best, though. Lin probably has stats on that.
Maybe one more Admin and 2 or 3 more Mods could be valuable... but i don't think we're hurting for their absence.
Personally, I think the presence of the Watchmen assists greatly in keeping the #'s of required Mod staff down. I don't think that any of us who lobbied for the Watchmen at it's inception realized just how much it would help. I know I didn't.
Without the Watch to help grease the wheels, there really wouldn't be enough Mod staff to go around.

LOL
Anyone remember this one?

Hey guys...

Yeah, the reconnection to the internet thing has been a nightmare of epic proportions. I'm pretty much on leave of absence until this crap gets resolved. MB is doing what he can, but I concur that we may need to "promote" another mod or something to help with the workload.

Also, regarding Adam. I know I am a hardcore gatekeeper when it comes to him, but he just took a new job and is in the middle of moving himself. He is working on the feedback issue, but that's a backend database thing and he *will not* give anyone else access to the database. It's a security thing.

We're trying as best we can; bear with us. :-)

Finally, I can neither confirm nor deny that I have had anything to do with the various natural disasters occurring lately. All I will say is...MB had chili for dinner a few nights ago. :-P

You know. I happen to know of someone who volunteered not too long ago. Since you're not doing your job, I'm certain HE would be happy to do it for a while... until a replacement could be found, anyway.

::giggle::

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. I really should be a better person than that.

@ Lin: No problem. You guys all get hit by the "Life Bug" at the same time. Darn you guys for growing up! Why wasn't this around when I was in high school or college. (Al Gore probably didn't invent the internet yet). When the feedback issue happens it happens. I was just looking to see if it was going to. Good luck.

@ MM: You know maybe you are right about not being a Admin. You may be a bit impulsive but you got moxy and you put your money where your mouth is. The DZ incident proved your integrety to me and that goes a long way in my book. The computer stuff can be learned. Or maybe you could be a specialist in the field of Unjust feedback.

All in all I thinkt he Admin, mods and any other powers that be are doing a great job. Hopefully you all become dotcom millionares.
