CypherisGod and I are in the same boat when it comes to one thing, I do hold grudges for a long time.
My time on Bartertown has been a good one altogether. There were a couple of guys in Canada that gave me grief, but the community blocked me from ever dealing with people like Ticknor or any of the really evil ones just by their watchfulness.
That being said, why do I favor the "ignore" function? Just personal preference. Someone drags me down in a trade and keeps me "waiting" forever...I don't want to deal with them ever again. One of my all time favorite pet peeves...ignoring a PM on multiple occasions. Not even bothering to say "sorry, it has been sold" or "sorry, I already have traded for the item you are offering" would be plenty. But no, the common courtesy of replying is lost on the individual. To me, it's even worse from other trading sites. I have been on Bartertown the longest, and have developed my reputation here, but I frequent other sites. Someone ignores me on there, but then comes over here, sees my rating, and decides to reply? I slammed the door on the individual and told him why. Stammer..Stammer..Shift foot...Stammer...Shift foot. You get the picture.
If I never had to see one of their posts, I would be fine with that.
So, MM, you be careful...LOL. Eric is the last person I would ever want to ignore, great trader and some thought provoking posts.

is there an "ignore" feature?

Actually, my links are safe, now.CypherIsGod wrote:Now that you mention it MM, the iggy function would be nice if it can be used to just block links posted by people. I would love to see what you are writing, but just block your links.
Actually, as much as you may think stuff revolves around you MM, it is not you that I would like to block. It is not as much a single person, but a type person that I would have no problem blocking. These would be people that I would never trade with for any reason. This way I would not have to worry about forgetting a year down the road. And as much as that person may have the "golden bit" that I've needed for years, I still would not trade with that person anyway so blocking them would not matter one bit to me.
And for all those that may comment about this type of attitude... Yes, I do hold grudges, and I am an angry person.... (not really, but kinda....)
They're all Lin Approved!TM
I've learned my lesson on that... Well, not really... but i AM following Lin's... umm... request.
What do you mean everything doesn't revolve around me? :sniffle: My mom said it did? I guess you're gonna tell me my sh** stinks, too, now?
LOL
Naw. My comments were two fold... The first half (up to the
Anyway...
Re: Not trading with someone you didn't like, even for the "golden bit," I have to admire your convictions.
As far as grudges are concerned... I'd be a hypocrite if I criticized it... but I do understand what you mean. I used to be that way. It sapped too much time & strength. I decided to just "let it go."
My biggest worry would still be the whole "missing a warning" thing, though.

But it is not like we would miss a bad trade report for the person. The person that is ignored will not be the one creating a BTR about himself. I guess if that person I have ignored creates a BTR about someone else, then I would be screwed. But, honestly, I don't know how the ignore function would work. If someone I have in the iggy list creates a thread, do I not see the thread at all? Do I just not see his posts? I'm not sure how it works. If it were to stop me from seeing any thread the person posts on, that would be very bad and I would probably not use the function. If it just stops me from seeing only his posts, that could work. I guess the more I think about it, just ignoring in my head might be a better idea if I miss out on threads that the ignored user just happened to post in.
I don't know. I don't want to bring up any user names, but there was an incident a few months ago where the iggy feature would have been great!

Please do not agree to a trade with me unless you know for sure that you actually want it to happen! If you think that makes me a jerk, feel free to NOT TRADE WITH ME!

Typically, you only ignore the posts from said individual. I don't know if anything otherwise happening anywhere (yeah... it WOULD suck to lose the whole thread).
BTW, the ignored starting the thread on a "bad guy" was what i meant.
