Well there you go, if it's contractual, and Battlewagon signed the contract, then they can't have a shopping cart. Simple as that. I wish I'd taken more anti-trust classes in law school, and now it's too late!

When I used to buy GW models in large numbers, I always used the 40-45% discounters...until GW drove them all out of business. That felt like price fixing to me, but like I said, I don't have a background in that kind of law, so I'm no expert. Bartertown has been amazing at helping me get rid of all my old models, and the few little things here and there I don't get on this site, I just grab from e-bay or Chaosorc. I don't think I've given GW a dime in years.

It was stated a page back or so that LOTR is helping to down GW's profit margin. This is incorrect, you should look into how much they made the first 3 years of that "burden" you label LOTR. They actually made I believe over 4 times what they projected for the first 2-3 years in the first year alone. I had a discussion about this a month ago or so with my LGS owner and friend. The rules set in my opinion is fun so long as you don't go to character heavy or play with to large a force. The rules set is also irrelevant when you bring to the front all the Tolkien fans who purchase the miniatures just to own/collect. It is not as poplar as 40k, but it was a good investment for GW out the gate. If they screwed it up with their business model thats their problem. It was originally designed to be inexpensive and not require large amounts of models. Now it costs roughly what 40K and Fantasy did when they started producing LOTR.

I am amazed that somebody would get on THIS site and state that they still used GW's website for anything other than viewing their models. The last days of the Bargain Bin were the last days that I used thier website.

Other than that, I agree with just about everything in this thread, BUT it is a cool hobby and in my opinion GW does it best. So, you do what you can (buy from places like eBay, The Warstore, Chaosorc, or even here) and you hope that someday the company will be bought out and run by new management that puts it's customer first.

I won't hold my breath though....

It's simple, tell Games Workshop "While I respect your company and wish to continue business with you, you have no legal right to ask that I stop selling the items I legally bought from you in any medium I choose, just as Ford or GM cannot stop people from selling new and used cars purchased from them on the internet, and any threat to stop shipment of those items is blackmail, and I have legal right to take you to court for that." (And despite the fact that in this country any company has the right to stop selling their product to anyone for most reasons, blackmail isn't one of them.)

Unfortunately, BW bits is gone now, and the company that bought them out follows the same practice. No offense meant to Neal at the Warstore...

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Two months... It's not that dormant, is it?

At any rate, it kept coming up in my searches, so I clicked on it. Next thing you know I was cursing and whining to myself, and just had to respond.

Won't happen again, cap'n.
