And that is what will help you along, tho you could add "OBO" and see if that moves things.

Telling people to "make offer" ads invariably results in "too low", so why bother?

Personally, I don't bother much with any ad that doesn't have pricing, unless I'm doing a retail-for-retail trade. And even then, a lot of guys want retail-for-less-than-retail. Screw that.

Of course not.

OTOH, if you had put discounted prices in, you would have been fine.

I have had some good response since I posted prices, so that is going well. The thing that got in the way of me putting prices initially is that we all know everyone here is out to get a deal. I have no problem with that, I'm after a deal too. Sometimes, though, I don't have a price point set in my mind, so I want to see what someone is willing to offer. Case in point, some of my RPGs still do not have prices listed - mainly because I'm not sure how much to ask for them.

I looked at your RPG's.
I did contemplate and am contemplating a PM, in fact.
Honestly, what holds people up is the uncertainty.

Look your items up on feebay or Amazon. You'll see a lot of people asking HUGE prices for OOP AD&D.
Now, look @ completed auctions. They don't typically get it. For every high dollar item that sells, 10 DON'T sell at the same price.
The problem is that a few select pieces DO sell like that, which gives people hope that *theirs* might. So, they want the high prices.
When I see posts like yours, I have to take in a few factors.
Nevermind that you want what I have precious little of to spare (cash). I have to decide if you might be one of those speculators who's hoping their items might be worth that higher price and, if so, if I'm willing to deal with it. Those people tend to start WAY higher than my BEST price, and that is a hard negotiation to find common ground on. It fails 5 or 10 times for each success. many successes are deals with people who fell through before, because they wanted too much the first time.
Typically, I just ignore the thread because I'm not willing to deal with that hassle.
I don't pay more than about $5 a piece for any old AD&D item, because I know it's just a matter of time until I find one at the price I want to pay. They were printed by the tens (and possibly hundreds) of thousands. VERY few items have broken that price point.
A price point to start from, or even something as simple as "I'm not looking for collectors prices" or "Most importantly, I want to get these to somewhere where they'll be used, instead of boxed away" or something similar will increase your response level.

What also helps? Make a discussion thread you can tie into your sales ad.
LOL

@MM - okay, this thread wasn't to tie into the sale ad. It was to vent and to apparently understand some issues with my postings. Okay, so it ties in, but not to bump them, but to learn about problems I posted with them.

Just a heads up on my prices - for the WFRP stuff, I looked at completed auctions on ebay and went cheaper than them. For the D&D stuff, instead of looking them up individually, I went with average price on some offers I had - except for a couple that I recalled being pretty rare. I'm willing to consider offers that are other than my prices. I already have today.

People don't like to do "difficult" math in their heads.

If you say 60-65% of (not OFF) retail, and say "SM AM $25", the typical person will think that you want $25, which is full retail.

If you say "Assault Marines = $17", then it's much clearer that you want $17, not $15, nor $20.

Same with "FREE" (domestic) shipping included. Now, they don't have to try and figure out how much shipping will be. Easy!

The simpler you make things, so more people understand, the better you do.

He's right.
It's true.

@Creeper... I know it wasn't your intent.
You didn't think that would stop me from harassing you, though. Did ya? LOL

Wow, what the heck was that about. No where did I talk about ignoring seller’s stipulations or lowballing every offer on the site. I understand you have a high rating but that does not give you the right to lambaste me in a public forum. I have worked diligently for my rating as well and would like some respect.

I was talking about trying to get shipping included on a painted unit that someone was selling for $35. If they didn't like the offer I was making I'd like to see a counter of something reasonable like $40 shipped. I didn't talk about ignoring seller stipulations or trying to get it for $10 including shipping.

Don't be an ass. If you don't agree with me that is fine but don't put extrapolate my posts into something they are not and then insult me. An apology would be nice, preferable publicly since this seems to be a comfortable format for you.

Dude,

Nowhere did I try to flame you. I am speaking from personal experience with other people's ads I see posted.

Don't get all huffy, if I said I saw YOU doing it, then that's another thing. Your example doesn't even fit my stipulations, so don't try to turn it around on me.
Lower rating? I ask that you ship first. Also, if I offer a stupidly good deal and you try to negotiate even lower...don't call it bad communication that you didn't get a reply. I deleted the message.
