"Sent Messages" vs "Outbox"

Post by BrooklynMike »

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I note that I have a bunch of PMs in my Outbox that don't appear in my Sent Messages. So, I'm always concerned that they have not actually been sent and, consequently, I'm keeping a BTowner waiting for a response without realizing it. So, are the PMs in Outbox actually transmitted or awaiting transmission? If awaiting, what can I do to assure they go out?

Thanks,
Mike

They leave your outbox when the other person reads them. Then they will get moved to your sent box.

Govannon is MOSTLY correct. The messages stay in your Out Box until the recipient logs into Bartertown. Whether he reads them or not is irrelevant. Once someone has logged in, the messages move, even if that person does not access their Control Panel and read PMs.

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Thanks for the correction. But I have a question then. When you sent a PM to someone logged in, Why does it stay in your outbox?

Hmmm .. that I do not know. Maybe if they are already online and not accessing the Control Panel it would not move until they actually click on reading Pms..

I must say I have never noticed that, though. Never looked, more specifically... so I very well might be wrong.

Well, Pork...

That's the way it USED to be.

Then (without announcement), it changed to what govannon said (a year or more ago).

Unless something has changed recently (last 3 months or so), it's still that way, AFAIK.

Lower rating? You ship first.
